About Laughing Child Farm

Laughing Child Farm is a small, family-run farm producing high-quality sweet potatoes for regional markets. We value hard work, kindness, reliability, and a healthy, supportive workplace.

Position Summary

The Wash & Pack Crew Member is responsible for washing, sorting, grading, and packing sweet potatoes for wholesale and retail orders. This is indoor work with steady physical activity and a team-oriented environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Wash, sort, and grade sweet potatoes according to farm quality standards.
  • Pack potatoes into cases, bags, or clamshells (including whole and diced products).
  • Lift and move bins, totes, and boxes of sweet potatoes (up to ~50 lbs repeatedly).
  • Operate wash line, conveyors, and packing equipment (training provided).
  • Maintain a clean, organized wash/pack area throughout the day.
  • Follow food safety guidelines and complete basic record-keeping as required.
  • Assist with general farm tasks as needed (inventory, cleanup, labeling, etc.).
  • Work efficiently within production deadlines.

Requirements

  • Ability to lift 40–50 lbs repeatedly and stand for long periods.
  • Comfort working in a wet, cold/warm indoor environment depending on season.
  • Dependability and ability to maintain a consistent schedule (10-hour shifts).
  • Attention to detail and willingness to follow quality and safety standards.
  • Team-oriented attitude and good communication skills.
  • Previous farm or production experience is helpful but not required.
