Job description

Class A CDL Driver

Location: North Salt Lake, UT

$27-$32 Hourly (DOE)

Full-Time

The Class A CDL Driver transports goods from one location to another. He or she will help load and unload products from the vehicle and verify contents against shipping invoices or inventories. Most importantly and without exception, the driver must operate within the legal speed limits and in a safe fashion at all times.

The ideal candidate for this position is at least 21 years old, has a high school diploma or GED, a minimum of two years of driving experience, a Class A CDL, the physical stamina to perform the duties of this job, and can pass the Department of Transportation (DOT) physical examination. In addition, he or she must have basic mechanical skills to perform regular vehicle inspections. Fluent English speaking and writing skills, good time management skills, and appropriate appearance, speech, and behavior are all required for this position.

Responsibilities:

  • Maintain clean driving record and abide by all laws concerning the operation of a commercial vehicle.
  • Load and unload furniture, boxes, appliances, and other household items.
  • Carefully wrap, protect, and secure belongings to prevent damage.
  • Pack and unpack household items when requested.
  • Safely carry and move heavy or bulky furniture.
  • Use moving equipment such as dollies, straps, ramps, and moving blankets.
  • Follow customer instructions and company safety procedures.
  • Maintain a clean and organized moving truck and work area.
  • Communicate professionally with customers and coworkers.
  • Report any damage, safety concerns, or unusual situations to a supervisor.
  • Performs pre-trip truck inspection and reports problems immediately to Dispatch Operations
  • Strong problem-solving skills
  • Completes any reports or logs.

Qualifications:

  • Must be at least 21 years old.
  • Previous moving, warehouse, delivery, or physical labor experience is preferred but not required.
  • Ability to lift and carry heavy items safely.
  • Reliable, punctual, and dependable.
  • Positive attitude and good customer-service skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Must pass criminal background check and drug screen
  • Two years of driving experience required.
  • Able to pass the DOT physical examination.
  • A high school diploma or GED preferred.
  • Able to follow verbal and written instructions in English.
  • Basic mechanical skills to perform regular vehicle inspections.
  • Stamina to lift heavy items (75 lbs. or more) repeatedly while climbing, balancing, kneeling, crouching, walking, etc
  • Class A CDL License
  • Work may take place in homes, apartments, offices, garages, and outdoor areas.
  • Schedule may include weekends, early mornings, or evenings depending on customer move dates.
