Job description

Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated Research Technician II to support translational research in pediatric sickle cell disease and inflammation.The research program focuses on patient sample biobanking and analysis to advance understanding of disease mechanisms. Ongoing studies investigate the role of heme in inflammation using molecular, biochemical, and mouse model systems. This role is ideal for individuals interested in translational science and hands-on laboratory work, applying techniques such as qPCR, ELISA, Western blotting, and genotyping while contributing to experimental execution, data analysis, and lab operations.

Job Duties
  • Supports biobanking of patient samples for pediatric sickle cell research
  • Assists in studies on heme-driven inflammation through experiments and data collection
  • Maintains and documents laboratory mouse colony care
  • Performs molecular/biochemical techniques (qPCR, ELISA, Western blotting, genotyping)
  • Prepares samples, runs assays, and analyzes results
  • Ensures accurate documentation following lab protocols
  • Conducts laboratory experiments and applies routine research methods
  • Collects, compiles, and interprets experimental data
  • Performs literature reviews and summarizes findings
  • Manages lab supplies, equipment, and other assigned duties
  • Work with other researchers, scientists, and principal investigators (PIs) to discuss findings, troubleshoot experiments, and advance projects.
  • Analyze and interpret complex datasets using statistical software or other specialized tools to draw conclusions.
  • Compile data into reports or presentations to communicate findings to other researchers, scientists, and principle investigators (PIs).
  • Perform other job related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in a Basic Science or related field. Four years of related experience may substitute for degree requirement.
  • No experience required.
Preferred Qualifications
  • 1 year of experience working in a research lab.
  • Experience with mouse work preferred.
