Job description

Job Summary: The Motor Winder Apprentice is an entry-level technician learning the motor winding trade which includes stripping wire windings, calculating, creating, and installing new coils, and making connections.
Essential Functions:
  •  Removing old windings from motor cores, and cleaning and prepping the motors.
  • Calculate, shape, and wind new coils.
  • Dip wound motors in varnish and bake in industrial ovens
  • Regular in-person attendance is required.
  • Keep the facility clean and orderly
  • Occasionally may be asked to perform other functions not particularly addressed in this posting
Minimum Qualifications:
  • High school graduate or equivalent
  • Strong mechanical aptitude
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Dependable and have a desire to learn
  • Detail oriented and takes pride in their work
Physical Demands:
  • Must be able to remain in a stationary position up to 50% of the time
  • Occasionally move about within the shop to gather materials
  • Constantly place and position small and large parts/materials during the diagnostic and repair process
  • Must be able to bend, climb, stoop, and lift and carry up to 50 pounds without difficulty
Work Environment:
  • Work is primarily performed indoors in a climate-controlled shop.
Reporting Relationships
  • The Motor Winder Apprentice reports to the Motor Shop Manager
Hours:
  • Monday - Friday (7:00 am - 3:30 pm)
  •  Occasional Voluntary Overtime
