Maintenance of Traffic (MOT) Technician
Location: Western & Central Maryland (Multiple Counties)
Schedule: 5 Days per Week, 8-Hour Shifts
Pay Range: $21.00 - $47.50 per hour (based on project location and applicable prevailing wage rates)
Base Rate: $26.00 per hour

Position Summary
We are seeking experienced Maintenance of Traffic (MOT) Technicians to support roadway and highway construction projects throughout Western and Central Maryland. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience implementing temporary traffic control measures, setting up and removing lane closures, and ensuring compliance with MDOT SHA standards and approved MOT plans.
This role requires a strong safety mindset, the ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions, and experience working on high-traffic roadways and highways.
Key Responsibilities
  • Set up, maintain, and remove lane closures on roadways and highways.
  • Install and maintain temporary traffic control devices including signs, cones, drums, barricades, arrow boards, and message boards.
  • Read and interpret MOT plans, drawings, and traffic control layouts.
  • Ensure all traffic control activities comply with MDOT SHA standards and project requirements.
  • Conduct daily inspections of work zones to maintain safety and compliance.
  • Coordinate with supervisors, crews, and project teams to ensure proper traffic control implementation.
  • Safely load, unload, transport, and position traffic control equipment.
  • Respond to changing traffic conditions and adjust traffic control devices as necessary.
  • Follow all company safety policies and procedures.
Required Qualifications
  • Minimum 2 years of Maintenance of Traffic (MOT) or Traffic Control experience.
  • Experience setting up and removing lane closures on high-traffic roads and highways.
  • Ability to read and understand MOT drawings and traffic control plans.
  • Knowledge of MDOT SHA traffic control standards and regulations.
  • Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
  • Reliable transportation and willingness to travel to various project locations throughout Maryland.
Required Certifications
Candidates must possess one or more of the following certifications:
