As an MOT Superintendent, you will direct and oversee all Maintenance of Traffic (MOT) activities within your assigned project segment. You will supervise MOT supervisors and crews, plan and coordinate daily work activities and lane closures, and ensure compliance with approved Traffic Control Plans (TTCPs). You will also manage labor, equipment, and other resources while maintaining high standards for quality, safety, and daily production.

What you will be doing
  • Direct and oversee all Maintenance of Traffic (MOT) activities within the assigned project segment.
  • Supervise MOT supervisors, foremen, and field crews to ensure efficient execution of daily operations.
  • Plan and coordinate MOT work activities, including lane closures, traffic shifts, and work-zone setups.
  • Verify compliance with approved Traffic Control Plans (TTCPs), project specifications, and applicable safety requirements.
  • Manage labor, equipment, materials, and other resources to support project needs and maintain productivity.
  • Monitor daily production and ensure MOT activities remain on schedule and aligned with project milestones.
  • Coordinate with project management, field operations, subcontractors, and other stakeholders to resolve MOT-related issues.
  • Coordinate with internal equipment team and external vendors to ensure that project work is equipped with appropriate equipment and material quantities to complete production within assigned budget and schedule.
  • Forecast the work schedule to identify possible issues and provides technical or scheduling recommendations to mitigate production issues.
  • Provide technical input to identify and resolve project risks including construction methods, work plan and material requirements, safety and schedule activities. Documents daily activities and meeting notes using Company approved document methods.
  • Support and promotes strict adherence to safety and process controls regarding operating equipment, worksite safety and documentation requirements. Responsibility includes recommending training needs identified on jobsite.
  • Supervise sub-contractor production and workforce regarding assigned project work. Recommends work schedule or work method adjustments regarding sub-contractor activities.

What we are looking for
  • 8+ years of heavy civil construction experience required.
  • 5+ years of traffic management experience required.
  • Bachelor's Degree a plus.
  • Safety Trained Supervisor (STS) certification preferred.
  • Valid Driver's License.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills required.
  • Advanced knowledge of construction site equipment operation and maintenance requirements.
  • Advanced knowledge of construction site safety protocols and proven ability to enforce project safety programs.
  • Knowledge and understanding of local union or prevailing wage rules, if applicable.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret standards and contract specific plans and specifications.
  • Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistics, and fundamentals geometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
