We are seeking a highly experienced Senior Consulting Analyst – Subject Matter Expert (SME) in FHA Home Equity Conversion Mortgage (HECM) loan servicing, the federal Housing Administration’s reverse mortgage, to support a federal government program delivering Service as a software capabilities. This role will provide deep domain expertise across HECM servicing operations, financial management, and mortgage servicing technology platforms, helping ensure program success and compliance with FHA and HUD requirements.

The SME will serve as a strategic advisor to program leadership, guiding operational processes, portfolio management practices, and system implementations that support the lifecycle management of HECM loans. This position plays a critical role in ensuring the program aligns with regulatory standards, industry best practices, and mission objectives tied to federal housing initiatives.


Key Responsibilities

  • Serve as the Subject Matter Expert (SME) in FHA Home Equity Conversion Mortgage (HECM) loan servicing, the Federal Housing Administration’s reverse mortgage.
  • Support the design, implementation, and optimization of mortgage servicing technology platforms and information systems used to manage HECM portfolios.
  • Analyze servicing workflows, system integrations, and operational processes to ensure efficiency, accuracy, and regulatory compliance.
  • Collaborate with program management, technical teams, and government stakeholders to support successful delivery of BSP services for the HECM program.
  • Provide recommendations on process improvements, servicing best practices, and risk mitigation strategies.
  • Assist in the evaluation and enhancement of data management, reporting, and financial tracking systems supporting HECM servicing.
  • Contribute domain expertise to program planning, system enhancements, and operational strategies.
  • Ensure servicing activities align with FHA/HUD regulations and federal program requirements.
  • Provide subject matter expertise to inform the design, development, and enhancement of mortgage loan servicing systems, ensuring alignment with servicing workflows, regulatory requirements (e.g., FHA, Ginnie Mae), and investor reporting standards.
  • Collaborate with product owners, developers, and architects to translate servicing requirements into system functionality, supporting configuration, testing (UAT), and continuous improvement of platforms (e.g., Salesforce-based or enterprise servicing systems).


Required Qualifications

At minimum of ten years of experience in the field of financial management, HECM mortgage loan servicing, and mortgage loan servicing information technology applications.

  • Subject Matter Expertise in FHA Mortgage Loan Servicing and experience with portfolio management.
  • HECM loan origination, loan servicing, loss mitigation, mortgage banking, mortgage servicing, and asset disposition.
  • FHA HECM mortgage terminology.
  • Interpretation and implementation of FHA’s HECM policies, procedures, and Mortgagee Letters.
  • Understanding of FHA reverse mortgage related financial transactions and the demonstrated ability to advise staff on mortgage lending solutions that conform with FHA HECM policies, procedures, and Mortgagee Letters.
  • Creation and maintenance of supporting documentation to substantiate HECM financial transactions and account balances.
  • Successful interaction and business relationships with FHA-approved HECM mortgage lenders, investors, custodians, servicers, master servicers, third-party vendors, and internal constituents at all organizational levels.
  • Positive, problem-solving approach and positive relationships within a team environment.
