Mortgage Loan Processor

Full Time | 2nd & Madison Branch | Springfield, IL

About the Position

The Mortgage Loan Processor plays a key role in the residential lending process by preparing, reviewing, and coordinating mortgage loan files from application through closing. This position works closely with loan officers, underwriters, title companies, and other internal departments to ensure loan files are complete, accurate, and compliant while providing exceptional service throughout the process.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Review residential mortgage loan applications for completeness and accuracy.
  • Collect, review, and verify required borrower documentation, including income, assets, employment, and other supporting documents.
  • Communicate with borrowers, loan officers, title companies, appraisers, and other third parties to obtain required information and documentation.
  • Prepare and maintain complete loan files throughout the processing cycle.
  • Order and track appraisals, title work, flood certifications, verifications, and other required documentation.
  • Review title commitments and identify items requiring resolution prior to closing.
  • Ensure loan files meet investor, agency, and regulatory guidelines, including Conventional, FHA, VA, and USDA loan requirements.
  • Work with underwriting to satisfy loan conditions and facilitate timely loan approvals.
  • Utilize Encompass and other software systems to accurately manage and process loan files.
  • Maintain confidentiality of customer information and adhere to all bank policies and regulatory requirements.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and related work experience preferred.
  • Previous experience in mortgage processing, residential lending, loan documentation, or a related banking role preferred.
  • Working knowledge of Conventional, FHA, VA, and USDA mortgage loan programs.
  • Knowledge of mortgage regulations, residential loan documentation, and compliance requirements.
  • Experience with Encompass or a similar Loan Origination System (LOS) preferred.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
  • Excellent communication, customer service, and problem-solving skills.
  • Detail-oriented with a high degree of accuracy.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
