The department of Enrollment Services at Morehead State University is accepting applications for a full-time position as an Admissions Counselor.

Morehead State University is located in Morehead, KY, a designated Kentucky Trail Town, nestled in the Daniel Boone National Forest, in close proximity to Cave Run Lake. This location provides opportunities for a wide range of outdoor recreation activities. Morehead State University is recognized as one of the top public universities in the South by U.S. News & World Report. Additionally, Morehead State University is relatively close to a number of larger cities including Lexington, KY, Louisville, KY, and Cincinnati, OH. Morehead State University delivers a strong and affordable education for friendly, ambitious students who thrive in a student-focused learning environment defined by small class sizes and faculty committed to teaching and student success.

RESPONSIBILITIES: The Admissions Counselor represents Morehead State University by performing all significant recruiting and admissions functions necessary for the university to successfully accomplish its educational business and serve the admissions needs of the university. The Admissions Counselor is also responsible for planning, organizing, and executing recruitment and enrollment services activities. Incumbent is also responsible for disseminating various University applications, brochures, and other recruiting materials. They must also be able to effectively communicate and counsel prospective students, and their families on financial aid principles and best practices for funding a college education. This position represents the University and encourages qualified prospective students to apply and enroll.

REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor's degree and valid driver's license required. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. High energy level and interpersonal skills. Self-motivated with the ability to motivate others. Experience with computer applications.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Master's degree preferred. Admissions, student services, public relations, marketing or related background preferred.

Physical Requirements
Lawful and physical ability to drive a vehicle. Ability to lift 40 pounds.
Working Conditions
The Admissions Counselor works with a minimum level of supervision. The position will often involve a highly stressful environment. The person holding this position must become familiar with all aspects of the campus community and much have the ability to make independent decisions but yet know when supervisory assistance is required. Decisions may be related to more complex matters within established policy and procedures and the decisions made by this position will affect the work of others in other departments. The effects of errors in judgment can be detrimental to students, and damage the reputation of the University, especially in the area of student enrollment and financial aid.
