Job description

Montessori Preschool Teacher (MACTE Certified or In Training)

Columbia Crest Montessori is hiring Montessori Preschool Teachers to join our Kenmore or Lake Stevens campuses for the current school year.

We are seeking an inspiring, dedicated Montessori Preschool Teacher to lead our Primary classroom (ages 2.5 to 6 years). We are looking for candidates who are either fully MACTE certified or are currently enrolled in an accredited Montessori training program. The ideal candidate has a profound love for early childhood education, excellent classroom management skills, and a warm, encouraging communication style. In this role, you will cultivate a peaceful classroom culture and guide children through the Montessori curriculum.

Key Responsibilities

  • Classroom Leadership: Prepare and maintain a beautiful, orderly, and complete Montessori environment that meets the developmental needs of children ages 2.5 to 6.
  • Curriculum Delivery: Give individualized and group Montessori presentations, carefully observe and record each child’s progress, and adapt lessons to meet diverse learning styles.
  • Community & Culture: Cultivate a peaceful, respectful classroom community utilizing positive discipline and grace and courtesy lessons.
  • Parent Partnership: Build strong, collaborative relationships with families through regular updates, parent-teacher conferences, and school community events.
  • Team Collaboration: Supervise, mentor, and work collaboratively with your classroom assistant to ensure a seamless, supportive daily rhythm.
  • Professional Growth: Actively participate in staff meetings, professional development days, and—if currently in training—demonstrate progress toward completing your Montessori certification.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Montessori Training: A completed Montessori diploma/certification for the Early Childhood/Primary level (ages 3–6) from a MACTE-accredited program (AMS, AMI, etc.), OR current enrollment in an active, accredited MACTE teacher-education program.
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree or coursework in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, or a related field is highly preferred.
  • Experience: Prior experience working in a Montessori classroom setting is preferred.
  • Skills: Strong observational skills, deep patience, excellent communication, and proven classroom management abilities.
  • Requirements: Ability to pass a Washington State comprehensive background check and meet early learning regulatory requirements (portable background check, TB test, MMR immunity proof, CPR/First Aid certification, or willingness to obtain).

What We Offer

  • Competitive Compensation: Commensurate with education, certification level, and teaching experience.
  • Prepared Environments: Fully equipped, beautiful classrooms with high-quality Montessori materials.
  • Training Support: A supportive administrative environment that understands the balance required for teachers currently completing their training/practicum.
  • Paid Time Off: Paid holidays, winter/spring breaks, and sick leave.

About Us

At Columbia Crest Montessori, we are deeply committed to providing an authentic, nurturing, and child-led learning environment where children can explore, grow, and thrive. Our campuses feature beautifully prepared environments designed to foster independence, creativity, and a lifelong love of learning. We value collaborative teamwork, professional integrity, and a supportive community for both our staff and families.

To Apply

If you are passionate about the Montessori method and eager to guide the next generation of independent thinkers, we would love to meet you. Please submit your resume and a cover letter sharing your teaching journey and philosophy.
