Test Technician 1, Instruments | Sparks, Maryland, United States Test Technician 1, Instruments - Sparks, MD [About the Role] Join a leading team at BD as a Test Technician 1, Instruments, and be at the forefront of assembling and testing innovative medical instruments. You'll work hands-on to ensure the highest standards of quality and performance in a collaborative environment. This full-time, contractor position offers consistent daytime hours (7:00 am-3:30 pm, Mon-Fri), competitive pay ($25/hr), and the opportunity to advance your skills in a dynamic, growth-driven company. [Responsibilities] - Assemble, integrate, and analyze complex medical instruments within the production area - Perform functional and release testing based on established procedures and pass/fail criteria - Troubleshoot basic electrical, mechanical, or software issues in non-functioning test equipment - Identify instrument defects and recommend design or process improvements - Optimize instrument system performance using test data and precision measurement tools - Read and interpret drawings, work instructions, and workmanship standards to ensure quality - Train and mentor associates on assembly and testing activities - Collaborate with Manufacturing Engineering, Quality, Planning, and Purchasing teams - Complete production activities in compliance with GMP and regulatory requirements - Maintain a safe, clean, and organized work environment by following safety and housekeeping policies - Adapt to changing assignments and support continuous improvement initiatives [Required Skills and Experience] - AA degree in mechatronics or related field, or 3+ years' hands-on troubleshooting experience - Mechanical assembly aptitude and proficiency with hand tools (torque drivers, gauges, etc.) - Ability to interpret technical drawings and measure dimensions accurately - Basic proficiency with computers in a Windows environment - Strong attention to detail, analytical skills, and problem-solving ability - Effective communication skills and proven ability to work both independently and within a team - Reliable transportation (not accessible by public transit) - Ability to work overtime as required [Preferred Skills] - Experience in medical device manufacturing - Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing, Kaizen, and continuous improvement practices - Prior training or leadership experience [Benefits] - Competitive hourly pay ($25/hr) - Consistent daytime work schedule, Monday through Friday - Opportunity to gain expertise with cutting-edge medical technology - Supportive team culture focused on learning and professional development - Clean, safety-first work environment [How to Apply] To be considered, please complete and attach the required prescreen document with your application.
