Job description

Minimum Requirements: 
There are no training and experience qualifications.












Working permit is required if you are under 18 years of age
Desired Qualifications: 
Good knowledge of the use of hand tools; 
Working knowledge of methods used to maintain and construct roads, sidewalks and catch basins; 
Working knowledge of ground maintenance activities; 
Working knowledge of building cleaning methods; 
Working knowledge of specific hazards and safety precautions; 
Ability to do heavy manual labor, including lifting; 
Ability to follow instructions; 
Ability to work under direct supervision; 
Ability to establish good working relationships with others; 
Ability to work under all weather conditions; 
Manual dexterity, endurance, dependability, health and physical condition commensurate with demands of the position; 
Class "D" driver license required;
Daily attendance is expected. 
Position Summary/Responsibilities: 
Waters playing surfaces; 
Cleans grounds by sweeping, raking, shoveling, removing debris, leaves, branches; Clears sites and prepares them for planting by raking digging, tilling and mulching; Assists with installation, maintenance, repair and cleaning of roads and grounds; Shovels, rakes and tamps soil or asphalt; 
Sets up and removes snow fences and markers at fire hydrants and catch basins; Plants seeds, bushes, trees, etc. using hand or power equipment; 
Cuts grass using lawnmowers, fertilizes and waters grounds, prunes bushes and trees, removes or transplants bushes or trees; 
Removes dead trees by cutting and splitting logs using chainsaws, sledge hammers and wedges; 
Loads trucks with debris, logs, dirt, etc. using hand or power equipment; 
Repair or paint fences; 
Maintains roads, walkways and parking lots at State facilities; Breaks up concrete to repair holes using hand or power equipment; Mixes and applies concrete and asphalt for patches; 
Removes trash and debris from roads, walkways and parking lots; 
Removes snow and ice from walkways by shoveling and operating snow removal equipment; 
Plows roads and parking lots with trucks and tractors; 
Mixes salt, sand and calcium for use on walkways and roads and spreads by hand or power equipment; 
Removes snow from walks, parking lots and other areas by shovel, tractor or pick-up truck with plow; 
Collects garbage and rubbish; 
Fills motor equipment with cement, sand, stone or oil; 
Directs traffic on road projects; 
Operates motorized equipment as a trainee under direct supervision; 
Assist with equipment repairs and service; 
Other duties as assigned.
