Job description

About the Role

Growth Data Science (GDS) is Moloco's global team of data scientists who partner with advertisers, sales, product, and engineering teams to maximize the effectiveness of Moloco Ads. As a Staff Data Scientist, you will hold one of the most cross-functional, high-visibility roles in the team - serving as the primary bridge between the commercial objectives of our advertisers and the technical direction of the Moloco Ads product.

This is a newly created role designed to fill a critical gap: the need for a senior, technically strong, DS who can both drive performant activation of Moloco products with our largest advertisers and synthesize customer signals into product priorities. A key component of this scope will be operating globally across GDS - creating the frameworks, playbooks, and product feedback loops that the broader team can scale.

You will work in the overlap of customer-facing data science and product strategy, partnering daily with product, engineering, sales, and GTM teams to ensure that what Moloco builds gets activated effectively and that what advertisers need shapes what we build next.

The Impact You'll HaveStrategic Advertiser Engagement
  • Partner directly with Moloco's top tier of advertisers to ensure they are extracting maximum value from the Moloco product suite, advising on campaign structure, measurement, bidding strategy, and optimization levers.
  • Translate account insights into product roadmap signals - feeding structured product and GTM feedback upwards
  • Set the standard for GDS advertiser engagement as a model others learn from
Product Strategy & Roadmap Influence
  • Build and scale activation frameworks that regional GDS teams can run across their books - moving the team from ad hoc activation to a repeatable, scalable model.
  • Serve as a senior technical voice from GDS in product conversations - bringing the depth of advertiser insight and analytical rigor needed to influence roadmap decisions at the highest level.
  • Systematically collect, synthesize, and communicate customer feedback and market signals to product and engineering, ensuring the Moloco roadmap is grounded in real advertiser needs.
  • Partner with product DS and engineering teams to define success metrics, design experiments, and evaluate new product features before and after launch.
  • Translate complex, ambiguous advertiser problems into clear product requirements and value propositions, acting as a credible interpreter between commercial and technical teams.
Global Frameworks & Team Leverage
  • Define and own the GDS approach to product activation globally. Building frameworks, tools, and best practices that elevate the impact of the entire team.
  • Act as a thought leader within GDS: setting a high bar for analytical rigor, stakeholder communication, and cross-functional influence.
  • Work across AMER, EMEA, and APAC GDS teams to ensure consistency in how we bring product to market and how we surface customer insight back to the business.
Minimum Requirements
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in a quantitative discipline (Statistics, Computer Science, Economics, Mathematics, Physics, or equivalent practical experience).
  • Experience: 8+ years in data science, analytics, or a closely related quantitative field, with significant time in a customer-facing or product-facing IC capacity.
  • Statistics: Strong foundation in experimental design, hypothesis testing, regression, and causal inference methods.
  • Programming: Proficiency in Python and SQL is required. Experience with large-scale data platforms (e.g., BigQuery) preferred.
  • Communication: Exceptional verbal and written communication skills. Proven ability to distill complex technical concepts into clear recommendations for non-technical audiences up to C-level.
  • Stakeholder management: Demonstrated ability to build and maintain credibility with cross-functional partners across product, engineering, sales, and GTM functions.
  • Ownership: Proven ability to own projects end-to-end in ambiguous problem spaces, with a track record of driving them to measurable outcomes.
  • Leadership: Demonstrated self-direction and senior-level judgment. Comfortable operating without a playbook and building one where none exists.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Graduate degree (Master's or PhD) in a quantitative discipline.
  • Prior experience in ad tech, programmatic advertising, DSP/SSP, or performance marketing. Strong familiarity with mobile app ecosystems and MMP measurement frameworks.
  • Experience working with or at a mobile app advertiser (gaming, fintech, social) with direct exposure to UA strategy, LTV optimization, or monetization.
  • Hands-on experience shaping product roadmaps as a DS - not just evaluating features, but actively influencing what gets built and why.
  • Track record of building scalable frameworks, playbooks, or methodologies that have been adopted by a wider team.
  • Familiarity with incrementality testing methodologies (geo holdouts, ghost bidding, PSA tests) and their practical application with advertisers.
