Mold Maker (Experienced & Apprentice)
Job Type:
Contract-to-Hire
Shift: 1st Shift | Monday–Saturday | 6:00 AM – 4:30 PM
Pay: $18.00–$28.00/hour (Based on Experience)

Now Hiring – 2 Openings!

We are seeking to add two Mold Makers to our growing team:

  • 1 Experienced Mold Maker 
  • 1 Apprentice Mold Maker 

This is an excellent opportunity to work in a low-volume, high-mix manufacturing environment supporting the automotive, aerospace, and defense industries. You'll build, assemble, repair, and maintain precision molds for both prototype and production applications while working alongside a skilled team on challenging projects.

Regular overtime is expected, with the potential for Sunday work as production demands increase.

Responsibilities

  • Build, fit, bench, assemble, and repair prototype and production molds. 
  • Perform precision fitting, spotting, polishing, and final assembly of molds. 
  • Read and interpret engineering blueprints, schematics, and 3D mold data. 
  • Verify proper operation of mold actions, including slides, lifters, and hand-load inserts. 
  • Troubleshoot, repair, and modify molds to minimize production downtime. 
  • Work from 3D dimensional data to construct and verify mold components. 
  • Inspect completed molds to ensure they meet engineering specifications and quality standards. 
  • Collaborate with engineering and production teams to resolve tooling and quality issues. 
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area. 
  • Follow all company safety policies and manufacturing procedures. 

Qualifications

Experienced Mold Maker

  • High School Diploma or GED required. 
  • 5+ years of Mold Maker experience in a manufacturing environment (10+ years preferred). 
  • Strong experience with: 
    • Precision benching, fitting, and mold assembly 
    • Spotting molds and verifying slides, lifters, and mold actions 
    • Mold polishing and finishing 
    • Reading blueprints, engineering drawings, and 3D data 
    • Mold repair and troubleshooting 
  • Experience with VISI software is a plus. 
  • Excellent mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills. 
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team. 

Apprentice Mold Maker

  • High School Diploma or GED required. 
  • Mechanical aptitude with a desire to learn the mold making trade. 
  • Manufacturing, machining, maintenance, or skilled trades experience preferred. 
  • Ability to read blueprints or technical drawings is a plus. 
  • Strong attention to detail and willingness to learn. 

Preferred Skills

  • Experience building and repairing injection molds. 
  • Blueprint and GD&T interpretation. 
  • Experience working in automotive, aerospace, or defense manufacturing. 
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills. 
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-mix manufacturing environment. 

Work Environment

  • Full-time position with regular overtime. 
  • Fast-paced manufacturing environment producing prototype and low-volume production molds. 
  • Standing for extended periods and performing hands-on work is required.
