Job description

What Mold Setters contribute to Cardinal Health
Mold Setters set up, align, monitor, and troubleshoot injection molding machines and molding processes. Assist and may perform maintenance on injection molding machines, molds, or other equipment.
Job Description
The primary purpose of this position is to assist in troubleshooting, modifications, validations and also assist/advise with all maintenance technicians and perform repairs on associated departmental equipment in conformance to FDA, GMP's, ISO 13485 standards and finished product specifications. Minimize scrap generation from processes and promote workplace safety. Provide process information to engineering and management so production equipment may be optimized and/or process corrected. Assist with training of personnel to perform various functions within each assigned area. Facilitate workflow and ensure product quality is maintained.
Shift Details
  • 11:00 pm to 7:00 am - Monday - Friday

Responsibilities
  • Perform scheduled preventive maintenance as assigned by supervisor in accordance with the Preventive Maintenance schedule.
  • Adhere to plant policies/procedures, department EHS rules, Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP's), ISO 13485 regulations and Good Housekeeping procedures.
  • Shall operate in a manner that protects the health and safety of its employees/visitors and operate in a manner that conserves energy, natural resources and protects the environment.
  • Complete all paperwork pertaining to the finished product and maximo system being produced according to established guidelines in the manufacturing procedures. Prepare and maintain required maintenance equipment records.
  • Maintain and order repair parts as required.
  • Use of micrometers, dial calipers, and other precision measuring instruments to perform dimensional and physical inspections or repairs.
  • Report any unusual circumstances to supervisor and perform other miscellaneous duties as assigned.
  • Basic computer skills with windows-based programs.
  • Responsible for the observation of department regulations and to use personal protective equipment (PPE) as required; must be safety conscious and Lockout/Tag-out trained.
  • Crosstrain and support where needed in the facility.
  • Set molds into injection molding machines.
  • Basic maintenance on molds and molding machines.
  • Interface with other Technicians and Leads to set molds based on the department schedule.
  • Troubleshoot equipment for defective or worn components and install replacements as necessary; diagnose failure causes and make recommendations for corrective actions.
  • Set up various production machines including electric, hydraulic and ancillary equipment according to procedures and product specifications utilizing small hand tools, i.e. wrenches, pliers, screwdrivers, drills and channel locks, sockets, and other associated equipment.
  • Monitor machinery and process goals during shift and make adjustments as necessary to ensure optimum performance of processes.
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot equipment malfunction and either repair equipment or arrange for technical support and assist with repairs.
  • Transport hazardous waste to accumulation areas.
  • Complete Annual Hazardous Waste (RCRA) refresher training.
  • Perform operator, material handling and/or set up duties as required.

Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or GED. One year certificate from college or technical school (machinist, engineering technology); or equivalent combination of training and experience preferred.
  • 2 years medical device manufacturing related experience or equivalent combination of training and experience preferred.
