Scope of Position:


This role focuses on reducing defects by eliminating root causes, improving supplier performance, ensuring measurement and inspection systems meet customer needs, and solving process issues through scientific methods, DMAIC, and advanced statistical tools, while driving improvements in manufacturing cost, quality, uptime, yield, cycle time, and safety, evaluating new materials, equipment, and process parameters, documenting SOPs, SOSs, experiment plans, and process changes, and supporting projects across any Corning division or research and development area.

Day to Day Responsibilities:


Design and develop new processes or improve existing processes at Corning facilities worldwide
Solve problems and improve processes based on fundamental understanding and structured problem   solving methods such as KT, Designed Experimentation, or Six Sigma.
Implement Process Control and Process Discipline systems into manufacturing operations
Analyze process data using statistical tools (e.g. pareto, regression, time charting, analysis of variance, gauge R&R, etc.).
Measure and communicate performance against established objectives.
Review and interpret data to make recommendations on immediate actions, long term corrective actions, follow-up experiments, etc.
Document processes and train operators and peers on defined processes

Travel Requirements and Hours:

  • Must be available for significant travel (up to 50%), primarily domestic, to multiple locations to support business needs. International travel could be required as well.
  • Hours: Monday- Friday 8am-5pm (with flexibility for travel and after hours)

Required Education and Skills:


Minimum of BS in chemical, materials, ceramic, mechanical engineering, computer science.
0 to 5 years' experience in engineering/manufacturing
Rigorous problem solving - Proficient in the use of process control/ analysis techniques
Experience completing projects in a manufacturing organization
Decision making based on data

Desired Skills:


Effective presentation skills
Capable of leading small process development / improvement projects
Innovation experience
Process excellence (Six Sigma) Green Belt or higher

Professional Soft Skills Required:

The range for this position is $70,776.00 - $97,317.00 assuming full time status. Starting pay for the successful applicant is dependent on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education.
