The Opportunity with McKinstry

We are seeking an Estimating Director for our Offsite Modular Construction team to lead McKinstry's offsite manufacturing estimating function. This is a seasoned M/E/P estimating leader who can define how modular and offsite construction is priced at scale. They will establish the function, create the policies and standard operating procedures, develop the tools and systems, and directly support estimating across all offsite and modular project pursuits and build systems that include incorporation of improvements from prior projects.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Establish and Manage the Offsite Modular Estimating Function:
  • Create policy, governance, and procedures to ensure manufacturing-related considerations (including but not limited to value stream design, learning impacts, supply chain optimization) are incorporated into estimates.
  • Develop estimation strategy and build team.
  • Lead the evolution of the estimating platform from currentstate to futurestate, including responsibility for integrating estimating tools with ERP and enterprise systems, while navigating ambiguity, system limitations, and the evolving operational maturity of the business.
  • Adapt existing tools, or develop new tools and infrastructure to holistically incorporate manufacturing considerations into cost estimates.
  • Develop Manufacturing Program Cost Estimates.
  • Manage multi-discipline estimating teams and support resources
  • Maintain cross functional communication across key Business Unit stakeholders

What You Need to Succeed at McKinstry:

  • 15+ years of progressive experience in construction estimating, with significant tenure estimating modular, prefabricated, or offsite construction projects.
  • Demonstrated experience building or leading an estimating department, function, or team in a modular construction or manufacturing environment.
  • Working knowledge of offsite and modular construction delivery models, modular factory production processes, and hybrid construction approaches.
  • Proven track record estimating complex products and programs exceeding $200M, including mechanical, plumbing, sheet metal, electrical, controls, structural and general construction scopes.
  • Experience authoring policies, standard operating procedures, and governance frameworks for estimating or construction functions.
  • Strong executive communication skills: comfortable presenting strategy, estimates, and recommendations to C-suite and client leadership.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook, SharePoint) and estimating software platforms.
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience in construction.

The pay range for this position is$147,300 - $222,500 per year; however, base pay offered may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Base pay information is based on market location. A bonus may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits,dependenton the position offered.
