Job Summary
Crown Technical Systems (A Flex Company) is seeking a Technical Design Lead focused on Prefabricated Modular Solutions for our U.S. region, within our Critical Power business. The Technical Design Lead is a senior technical leader responsible for driving the creation, standardization, and ongoing development of prefabricated modular data center reference designs across Flex's Integrated Modular Solutions portfolio. This role serves as the technical authority for modular data center architecture spanning electrical, mechanical, controls, and structural integration to enable scalable, repeatable, and optimized designs.
The Technical Design Lead will be responsible for the creation of a series of modular reference designs focused on MV and LV power distribution systems to the data center white space. The role will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, regional stakeholders, and external partners to position Flex & Crown Technologies as a leader in modular prefabricated data center solutions.
Key Responsibilities
Reference Design Ownership & System Architecture
  • Lead creation of modular data center reference design sets (LOD100-300+).
  • Define system architecture, redundancy strategies, performance criteria.
  • Own GA, SLD, cooling concepts, and schematics.

Integrated Solutions Leadership
  • Provide end-to-end technical leadership from concept to construction documents.
  • Align technical disciplines to unified system architecture.
  • Champion standardization and modularity to reduce cycle times.

Agile Team Leadership & Cross-Functional Coordination
  • Lead small agile engineering teams.
  • Run design reviews and manage technical decisions.
  • Partner with CTO, Marketing, Product Line Managers and Program Managers.

R&D and Solution Innovation
  • Collaborate with R&D and regional engineering teams to define reference design requirements and prioritize features and specifications based on market needs
  • Advocate for sustainability and ESG initiatives, ensuring products align with specific environmental and regulatory standards (UL, NEC, NFPA, ASHRAE, IBC, IEC, CE)
  • Stay informed on evolving compliance requirements and industry best practices
  • Validate calculations, CFD inputs, coordination studies

Additional Responsibilities Include:
  • Drafting & oversight of CAD/BIM Integration
  • Guide Revit/BIM teams.
  • Review drawings for accuracy and manufacturability
  • Delivery, Timelines & Execution Excellence
  • Manage engineering schedules and deliverables.
  • Support costed BOM generation.

Experience & Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or Systems Engineering (preferred).
  • 5+ years data center design or modular data center design experience.
  • Strong electrical and mechanical design experience.
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD and understanding of BIM.
  • Experience with hyperscale or large colocation customers.
