Job description

Wilson & Company's Kansas City Office is seeking an experienced civil/transportation engineer looking to take the next step in their career to lead a team to deliver a variety of street, highway, and interstate projects across the state of Missouri and the Midwest, assisting to win new projects, and growing the transportation group by managing the career growth of direct reports. You will work closely with clients, project managers, and support staff to execute work and ensure the successful completion of projects. You will have the full support of senior staff to guide your growth and promote success.

This position will have a primary focus on serving Missouri and Midwest clients while also supporting opportunities across the company. Specific experience with executing projects for state and local municipalities related to highways, streets, or sidewalks and trails is required. We are looking for someone with great communication skills who is looking to grow and work on establishing client relationships and who enjoys working in a team environment and mentoring staff to improve their craft. A strong background working with MoDOT is preferred.

This opportunity entails being responsible for managing assigned tasks and projects throughout their full lifecycle. You will work with senior staff to develop the scope and hours for projects, writing technical sections of proposals, and overseeing the delivery of the project/quality management plans. This position will deliver technical tasks while managing and reviewing design related specifications, calculations, reports, and plans. You will coordinate with internal multi-discipline teams to address and problem solve design related issues or concerns. You will have individual tasks and tasks assigned to the group to deliver.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering
  • Licensed engineer in the state of Missouri
  • Minimum 6 years of experience in the design of streets and highways
  • Proficiency with Microstation/OpenRoads
  • Knowledge of and experienced with federal, state and local regulations that pertain to the design of street and/or highway projects
  • Experience mentoring less experienced staff
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Preferred Qualifications

  • 8+ years of experience
  • Specific experience executing projects for MoDOT
  • Established client relationships
  • Experience contracting on MoDOT projects

Annual Salary range: $90,000 - $120,000
