Position Announcement
Utah Valley University is seeking an Adjunct Instructor to teach courses in one or more of the following areas: all levels of Modern Technique and Theory, Composition, Improvisation, Dance As An Art Form, Dance Conditioning, or other somatic practices.
Summary of Responsibilities
  • Plans, prepares and follows an approved course of study with measurable objectives for each course taught.
  • Prepares instructional materials, evaluates instruction and learning by means of written, oral, practical, and performance tests
  • Maintains a student-oriented approach to teaching
  • Submits student grades and all requested departmental materials in a timely manner.
  • Attends mandatory adjunct meetings.

Qualifications / Licenses / Certifications
  • A high school diploma with teaching and/or professional experience in modern dance.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Graduation from an accredited college or university with a BS, BA, and teaching experience, or an MFA and graduate teaching experience.
  • Evidence of teaching excellence and expertise in Modern technique and theory, Composition, and improvisation.

Knowledge / Skills / Abilities
  • Knowledge of subject matter and course content of courses taught in Modern Technique and Theory
  • Knowledge of best practices in instructional strategies and techniques
  • Knowledge of current trends in education
  • Skill in choreography and performance
  • Effective interpersonal, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
