Job description

We are seeking an experienced BIM Modeler / Electrical Detailer to join our growing team. In this role, you will develop accurate 3D BIM models and detailed construction drawings for commercial electrical projects, helping ensure efficient coordination, prefabrication, and field installation. You'll work closely with project managers, engineers, field personnel, and design teams to identify and resolve conflicts before construction begins, supporting successful project delivery from preconstruction through closeout.

Responsibilities
  • Create, update, and maintain detailed electrical BIM models for commercial construction projects.
  • Develop shop drawings, installation drawings, layout plans, and prefabrication drawings from construction documents.
  • Perform clash detection using BIM software and coordinate with other trades to resolve design conflicts before installation.
  • Review electrical plans, specifications, and contract documents to ensure model accuracy and constructability.
  • Produce conduit layouts, sleeve drawings, hanger details, equipment layouts, and other installation support documents.
  • Collaborate with project managers, field supervisors, engineers, architects, and VDC teams throughout each project.
  • Participate in coordination meetings and incorporate design revisions, RFIs, and field updates into project models.
  • Maintain accurate BIM models throughout construction and assist with as-built documentation upon project completion.
  • Ensure all models and drawings comply with company BIM standards, project requirements, and quality expectations.
  • Meet project deadlines while maintaining a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of experience as a BIM Modeler, Electrical Detailer, VDC Designer, or in a similar role.
  • Experience modeling electrical systems for commercial construction projects.
  • Proficiency with Autodesk Revit, AutoCAD, and Navisworks.
  • Strong understanding of commercial electrical systems, conduit routing, equipment layouts, and installation practices.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings, specifications, and construction documents.
  • Experience with clash detection and multidisciplinary coordination.
  • Associate degree, technical training, or equivalent experience in BIM, drafting, electrical design, or a related field preferred.
  • Commercial electrical construction experience required.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
