These skills ensure accurate model development, effective teamwork, and the ability to translate complex data into actionable engineering solutions.

What engineers make $500,000?

Senior engineering roles in fields such as software, petroleum, and aerospace engineering can reach or exceed $500,000 annually, often including bonuses and stock options. These positions typically require extensive experience, advanced skills, and sometimes specialized certifications or advanced degrees.

What does a modelling engineer do?

A modelling engineer develops and implements mathematical models to simulate physical systems, processes, or products. They use tools like MATLAB, Simulink, or CAD software to analyze performance, optimize designs, and predict behavior under various conditions, often working closely with design and engineering teams. Strong analytical skills and knowledge of engineering principles are essential for this role.

How do Modeling Engineers typically collaborate with other teams during a project?

Modeling Engineers frequently work in cross-functional teams, collaborating closely with design, simulation, and product development groups to ensure that models accurately reflect real-world conditions and requirements. They often participate in regular meetings to discuss project goals, share progress updates, and troubleshoot any issues that arise in the modeling process. Open communication and the ability to translate complex technical data for non-technical stakeholders are essential, as Modeling Engineers serve as a bridge between theoretical models and practical implementation. This collaborative environment helps ensure that projects are delivered efficiently and meet the necessary specifications.

What's a design engineer's salary?

A design engineer's salary typically ranges from $70,000 to $110,000 annually, depending on experience, industry, and location. Professionals often use CAD software and may hold certifications like EIT or PE to enhance earning potential.

What are Modeling Engineers?

Modeling Engineers are professionals who develop mathematical or computational models to simulate real-world systems, processes, or products. They often work in fields like engineering, manufacturing, software development, or research, using advanced software tools and programming languages. Their models help predict performance, identify improvements, and optimize designs before actual implementation. Modeling Engineers collaborate closely with other engineers, designers, and stakeholders to ensure that the models meet project goals and real-world constraints.

What is the difference between Modeling Engineer vs Simulation Engineer?

AspectModeling EngineerSimulation Engineer
CredentialsBachelor's or Master's in Engineering, Computer Science, or related fieldsBachelor's or Master's in Engineering, Computer Science, or related fields
Work EnvironmentDesigning and developing models, working in R&D or product development teamsRunning simulations, analyzing results, often in testing or validation labs
Industry UsageAutomotive, aerospace, electronics, and manufacturing sectorsAutomotive, aerospace, electronics, and manufacturing sectors
Common Search/ComparisonModeling Engineer vs Simulation Engineer

Modeling Engineers focus on creating mathematical and computational models to represent systems or components, while Simulation Engineers run simulations based on those models to analyze performance and behavior. Both roles often overlap but serve different stages in product development and testing processes.

Job description

Ardurra is seeking a Hydraulic Modeling Engineer to join our Public Works Infrastructure team in Houston, TX!

Ardurra is a multidisciplinary civil engineering services firm providing innovative infrastructure solutions to public and private sector clients throughout the United States. We leverage technical expertise, integrated project delivery, and local market knowledge to deliver practical, sustainable solutions for public infrastructure, utilities, transportation, drainage, and community development projects.

Our Houston Public Works Infrastructure team partners with municipalities, local governments, utility providers, and public agencies to plan, evaluate, and improve critical infrastructure systems. We support projects involving utility master planning, capital improvement programs, infrastructure resiliency, system capacity evaluations, drainage and utility assessments, and long-range infrastructure planning.

Primary Function

The Hydraulic Modeling Engineer will support infrastructure planning, hydraulic modeling, and system evaluation efforts for municipal and public sector clients throughout Texas and surrounding regions. This position will be responsible for developing, calibrating, and maintaining hydraulic models; evaluating system performance; performing engineering analyses; and preparing technical documentation to support infrastructure planning, capital improvement programming, operational optimization, and resiliency initiatives.

The ideal candidate will possess experience with hydraulic modeling software, model calibration, GIS integration, and system performance evaluations. Experience with Autodeskโ€™s ICM, automation in modelling (SQL and Ruby), Inflow and Infiltration (I/I) assessments and the Groundwater Infiltration Module (GIM) is highly desirable.

Primary Duties

  • Develop, update, calibrate, and maintain water and wastewater hydraulic models.
  • Perform system capacity evaluations, operational analyses, and infrastructure assessments.
  • Analyze water distribution and wastewater collection system performance under existing and future demand conditions.
  • Conduct model calibration using field data, flow monitoring information, and system operational records.
  • Support Inflow and Infiltration (I/I) investigations and related wastewater system analyses.
  • Utilize and interpret Groundwater Infiltration Module (GIM) results where applicable.
  • Prepare technical memoranda, engineering reports, planning studies, and presentation materials.
