This role will focus on developing and maintaining software tools used to execute simulations, analyze simulation results, and support V&V of model-based systems. The developer will work primarily in Python and will support the operation and troubleshooting of simulation environments and models. The current technical emphasis is on signatures modeling and analysis, with opportunities to support trajectory-related analysis and broader M&S activities.
Key Responsibilities
  • Develop, maintain, and enhance Python-based tools for simulation execution, data processing, statistical analysis, and V&V.
  • Develop execution and automation tools used to configure, run, monitor, and evaluate model-based simulations.
  • Execute simulations and analyze resulting data to support verification and validation activities and assess model behavior and performance.
  • Support signatures modeling and analysis, including development of tools for processing, evaluating, and interpreting signature-related simulation data.
  • Investigate unexpected or anomalous model behavior and work with model development teams to identify, isolate, and troubleshoot issues.
  • Diagnose issues involving model inputs, configuration, software dependencies, and runtime environments, and develop practical solutions or workarounds where appropriate.
  • Support model developers in integrating and exercising models within larger simulation environments.
  • Apply statistical and quantitative analysis techniques to characterize simulation results and support V&V conclusions.
  • Contribute to simulation execution approaches and software architecture that improve the repeatability, robustness, and efficiency of M&S workflows.
  • Support trajectory-related modeling and analysis activities as program needs require.
  • Document software tools, simulation configurations, analysis methods, assumptions, and results.

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, or a related technical field.
  • 3-10 years of relevant software development, modeling and simulation, analysis, or related engineering experience.
  • Strong proficiency in Python, including development of engineering, scientific, analysis, or automation software.
  • Experience developing software tools for technical or scientific applications, including data processing and analysis.
  • Experience applying statistical analysis techniques to engineering or simulation data.
  • Understanding of modeling and simulation concepts, including the execution and analysis of model-based simulations.
  • Experience debugging complex software, models, or simulation environments and systematically diagnosing unexpected behavior.
  • Ability to work with technical teams across software development, model development, systems engineering, and V&V disciplines.
  • Ability to independently investigate technical problems and communicate findings, limitations, and recommended solutions.
  • ACTIVE Secret level clearance
