Job description

As our Preconstruction Manager, you will lead the planning, estimating, budgeting, and coordination efforts that set construction projects up for success. In this role, you will manage project estimates, cost modeling, value engineering, subcontractor outreach, bid packaging, constructability reviews, and preconstruction schedules to ensure projects are aligned with client goals, budgets, and timelines.
You will work closely with owners, architects, engineers, business development teams, and operations personnel to develop project strategies, evaluate design and cost impacts, identify risks and opportunities, and provide accurate budgeting throughout the design process. You will oversee procurement planning, scope development, market analysis, and subcontractor engagement while maintaining clear communication with all stakeholders.
Experienced preconstruction managers may lead multiple pursuits simultaneously, mentor estimators and preconstruction staff, participate in client presentations, and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives across estimating, planning, and project delivery processes.
Successful preconstruction managers in this role excel at collaboration, analytical thinking, and proactive problem-solving while maintaining a clear focus on budget accuracy, risk mitigation, constructability, and client satisfaction.

  • Proficiency with estimating software, preconstruction platforms, and construction management technology.
  • Excellent communication, organization, analytical, negotiation, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment managing multiple pursuits, deadlines, and expectations.
  • Experience facilitating value engineering discussions, constructability reviews, and owner budget presentations.
  • Strong understanding of drawings, specifications, contract documents, and project delivery methods.
