Sign Up to Help 8th Graders Ace Future High School Interviews!Our 8th graders are hard at work preparing their high school applications, and practicing interview skills is a key step in the process. That's where you come in! As a volunteer, you'll step into the role of a high school admissions counselor giving students the chance to practice, gain confidence, and receive valuable feedback in a supportive environment.
Date: Saturday, October 3rd
Time: 10am - 1pm
Location: Town School, 540 E 76th St, New York, NY 10021
Volunteer Responsibilities
  • Volunteers will lead 8th graders through a 20-minute sample high school admissions interview. Breakthrough New York will provide an interview guide with questions to ask and a rubric to measure students' responses.
  • After the mock interview, volunteers will provide feedback based on the rubric and work with students on applying it and refining their answers.
  • Volunteers will repeat this process for the three students they interview.
  • First-time volunteers will be asked to complete short background check.
