What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a mobilization manager, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Mobilization Manager, you need strong project management abilities, organizational skills, and experience in coordinating large-scale operations, along with a relevant bachelor’s degree. Familiarity with project management software like MS Project or Primavera, and knowledge of compliance standards and logistics systems, is often required. Excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills enable effective team coordination and stakeholder management. These competencies are crucial to ensure smooth project start-up, timely delivery, and adherence to client and regulatory requirements.

What does a mobilization manager do?

A Mobilization Manager is responsible for coordinating and overseeing all activities required to initiate and set up new projects or contracts, particularly in industries like construction, consulting, or large-scale service delivery. Their duties include resource planning, scheduling, logistics, and ensuring compliance with contractual and regulatory requirements. They act as the primary point of contact during the transition phase, ensuring a smooth handover from sales to operations. Effective Mobilization Managers help mitigate risks, manage stakeholder expectations, and ensure projects begin on time and within budget.

Mobilization Managers often encounter challenges such as coordinating multiple stakeholders, managing tight timelines, and ensuring that resources and personnel are in place before project kick-off. Navigating regulatory requirements, adapting to evolving project scopes, and aligning diverse teams can also present difficulties. Successful Mobilization Managers proactively communicate, stay organized, and quickly adapt to changes to keep mobilization on track and minimize delays.

Job description

Project Manager | Build With Purpose at Synergy Construction Group

At Synergy Construction Group, we’re not just building structures—we’re building careers, communities, and a reputation for doing things the right way.

As a well-established General Contractor and Developer based in Chicagoland, we deliver projects ranging from $300K to $30M, including multifamily housing, adaptive reuse, medical renovations, mixed-use, and more. This range gives our team the opportunity to stay hands-on while gaining experience across diverse project types.

We’re continuing to grow and are looking for an experienced Project Manager to lead projects from construction through closeout. At Synergy, our Project Managers focus on execution. You will not be responsible for estimating, pre-construction, or business development. Your role is to own the build—driving projects forward from mobilization through final turnover. If you’re proactive, solutions-oriented, and thrive in a fast-paced environment, we’d love to connect.

What You’ll Do

Lead Projects from Construction Through Closeout

  • Oversee all phases of construction, from mobilization to closeout
  • Partner closely with Superintendents to align field and office execution
  • Maintain schedules and proactively solve issues to keep projects moving
  • Drive progress with a focus on quality, safety, and efficiency

Own Budgets & Financial Performance

  • Manage project budgets and forecasts
  • Track costs, approve invoices, and manage change orders
  • Ensure strong financial control and overall project profitability

Collaborate & Lead Teams

  • Build relationships with clients, subcontractors, and internal teams
  • Keep teams aligned, accountable, and moving toward shared goals
  • Support a positive, solutions-focused project environment

Ensure Safety, Compliance & Quality

  • Support jobsite safety and maintain OSHA standards
  • Ensure compliance with codes, permits, and regulations
  • Monitor quality and maintain high standards across all phases

Drive Communication & Organization

  • Maintain clear documentation, contracts, and reporting
  • Provide consistent project updates to stakeholders
  • Keep communication flowing to enable fast, informed decisions

What You Bring

Experience

  • 10+ years in construction, including 5+ years as a Project Manager
  • Experience with multifamily, mixed-use, or commercial construction
  • HUD/IHDA experience strongly preferred

Skills

  • Strong financial acumen and budget management experience
  • Excellent communication, organization, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Proficient in MS Office & Outlook; experience with Sage/Master Builder a plus

Education & Certifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field
  • OSHA 30 preferred
  • PMP certification is a plus

Why Synergy?

We’re a people-first, team-driven company with a strong and growing pipeline. At Synergy, you’ll:

  • Focus on what you do best—running great projects, not chasing work or pricing jobs
  • Work on impactful projects that shape communities across Chicagoland
  • Be part of a collaborative, down-to-earth team that values your input
  • Grow your career across a diverse portfolio of work
  • Earn competitive compensation and benefits

Let’s Build Something Great Together

If you’re ready to take ownership of projects and focus on execution from start to finish—we’d love to hear from you. Apply today.
