About the team + role

We are building an elite team, applying frontier technologies to the world's biggest financial problems. We're looking for bold thinkers. Sharp problem-solvers. Builders who are wired to make an impact. Robinhood isn't a place for complacency, it's where ambitious people do the best work of their careers. We're a high-performing, fast-moving team with ethics at the center of everything we do. Expectations are high, and so are the rewards.
The Robinhood Wallet team's mission is to democratize access to financial services worldwide by leveraging DeFi protocols and Robinhood Chain! We build secure, intuitive, and decentralized products that enable our users to custody and manage their digital assets. Our team works at the intersection of traditional finance and web3, driving progress in cryptocurrency and blockchain applications. We work closely with product managers, product designers, and backend engineers to deliver highly reliable, high-performance systems for customers worldwide. We pride ourselves on a culture of shared learning, high technical standards, and respectful collaboration.

As a Senior Android Engineer, you'll build and own new product features for the Robinhood Wallet Android app. You will develop reliable and secure solutions to deliver a high-quality trading experience for cryptocurrencies and tokenized stocks, including perpetual futures, to customers worldwide. In this role, you will take lead responsibility for designing scalable mobile architectures, defining code standards, and maintaining high-quality codebases. You will collaborate closely with client engineers, backend developers, product designers, and external blockchain partners to deliver secure technical integrations. Additionally, you will mentor other developers and raise our overall engineering standards through design reviews, architecture discussions, and hands-on technical leadership.

This role is based in our Menlo Park, CA or New York, NY office(s), with in-person attendance expected at least 3 days per week. At Robinhood, we believe in the power of in-person work to accelerate progress, spark innovation, and strengthen community. Our office experience is intentional, energizing, and designed to fully support high-performing teams.

What you'll do
  • Build intuitive, elegant, and stable mobile experiences using Kotlin, Jetpack Compose, and modern Android APIs.

  • Lead the full lifecycle of product features - from ideation and technical design to implementation, testing, and release.

  • Collaborate closely with product managers, product designers, backend engineers, and data scientists to create impactful solutions.

  • Champion mobile development standards and code review processes that ensure high quality, scalability, and maintainability.

  • Mentor other developers and help elevate team standards and collaboration.

What you bring
  • 5+ years of professional experience developing Android applications.

  • Proficiency with Kotlin and/or Java, and a strong grasp of Android SDK and architecture patterns like MVVM.

  • Experience using Jetpack Compose, Coroutines & Flow or RxJava, and libraries such as Retrofit and Room.

  • Strong collaboration and communication skills with a product-focused perspective.

  • Demonstrated ability to mentor peers, lead complex projects, and influence architecture decisions.

Bonus points
  • Experience working for a DeFi protocol, a crypto wallet company, or another blockchain-related company.

  • Familiarity with technologies like EVM blockchains and smart contracts.

What we offer
  • Challenging, high-impact work to grow your career

  • Performance driven compensation with multipliers for outsized impact, bonus programs, equity ownership, and 401(k) matching

  • Top Tier benefits to fuel your work, including 100% paid health insurance for employees with 90% coverage for dependents

  • Access to the best AI tools on the market and continuous AI skill-building for every employee, technical or not

  • Lifestyle wallet - a highly flexible benefits spending account for wellness, learning, and more

  • Employer-paid life & disability insurance, fertility benefits, and mental health benefits

  • Time off to recharge including company holidays, paid time off, sick time, parental leave, and more!

  • Exceptional office experience with catered meals, events, and comfortable workspaces.
