Job description

Total Safety is looking for a Safety Technician to add to their safety conscious team. The Safety Technician cleans and inspects supplied air equipment, masks, scba's, and 5 min escape pack.

 Must have a current TWIC card

  • Performing annual fit testing

    · Airline training and annual requalification

    · Fall protection inspections

    o Honeywell/Miller

    · Distribute chemical and regular PPE

    · Sign out cascades of air

    · Ear mold impressions and fit testing

    · Maintain and work on gas detection

    o Fixing sensors, managing signing in and out

    · Make up and maintain spill kits

    · Service and maintain eye wash stations

    · Manage FR clothing orders for Shell

    · Manage SCBAs

    · Support HSSE

    · Clean and repair Total Safety breathing air rental equipment

    · Manage other Total Safety rental equipment

    · Perform Shell field inspections and other tasks

    · Manage Shells (permit to work) inventory in safety store and in vending machines

    · Assist site emergency response team with specific job tasks

    · Manage site electrical gloves

Position responsibilities:

  • Greet customers and assist with customer inquiries
  • Clean, inspect, and service Safety Equipment
  • Fill breathing air cylinders
  • Issue safety equipment to customers
  • Build positive customer relationships
  • Restock inventory and maintain accurate counts
  • Abide by specific customer contract agreements
  • On call as needed- Some OT, nightshift, and weekends are required
  • Perform other related duties as required

  • Able to work in fast-paced, self-directed environment
  • Strong customer service background
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills
  • Decision-making, problem resolution and creative thinking skills
  • Ability to multi-task activities and shift priorities

Nonessential skills and experience:

  • Refinery experience

  • Physical demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is constantly required to stand and walk for long periods of time; sit; bend; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; balance; stoop; talk or hear.  The employee may occasionally lift up to 50 pounds.  Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
  • Work environment: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is exposed to certain conditions that require the use of personal protective equipment such as Safety Glasses with Side Shields and gloves.  Temperature of work area may be affected by outside temperatures.  Industrial lighting provided. The noise level in the work environment is usually minimal but can be greater when using equipment.
