Job description

Position Overview
The Electrical Project Engineer III will collaborate with various functional groups involved in the engineering and implementation of diverse projects. The primary responsibility is to plan and oversee the completion of electrical-related tasks for assigned projects.
Primary Responsibilities
  • Coordinate with project management to ensure compliance with project schedule
  • Communicate with the distributor, customer and end user to manage expectations
  • Participate and/or host periodic project meetings - internally and externally
  • Project cost estimating and resource allocation scheduling
  • Build project schedules and manage projects from conception to completion

Other Responsibilities
  • Review specifications, drawings, and vendor equipment documentation from both within the electrical engineering discipline and with other engineering disciplines for compliance with the project requirements
  • Provides guidance to designers and engineers on:
    • engineering standards
    • piping & instrumentation diagrams
    • design of electrical control systems and interfaces
    • selection and specification of electrical equipment
    • shop and field wiring of equipment
  • Develop and/or review system narratives, functional descriptions, equipment manuals, electrical documentation and drawings produced by designers and engineers prior to submitting them to the customer
  • Organize, integrate, review, and approve buyout parts and devices
  • Organize, develop, and maintain drawings and bills of materials
  • Produces accurate drawings which meet company drafting standards
  • Supervise and/or assist in quality inspections of fabricated panels

Requirements
  • Licensed PE
  • Certified PM and/or MBA preferred
  • Abide by applicable national and local engineering codes (ie. NFPA Articles 70, 70E, 79, ...) in all designs
  • Familiarity with process flow diagrams and piping & instrumentation diagrams
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience in:
    • low and medium voltage power distribution design, equipment/protective device sizing, and power system studies
    • cable sizing, conduit, and cable tray allowable fill according to applicable code
    • duct bank design, embedded conduit, cable tray, grounding, and lighting systems design from concept to completion
    • single line diagrams, area classifications, power and control schematics, wiring design, raceway design specific to tray and conduit systems, and electrical installation and construction details
    • control system electrical design (24 VDC, 120 VDC)
    • proper use of monitoring and test equipment (ie. signal generators, meters,...)
  • At least a bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent 10-year relevant experience
  • AutoCAD Electrical experience preferred but optional

  • Highly organized, self-motivated, and able to handle multiple project tasks
  • Ability to work under the pressure of deadlines, be self-directed, exhibit good business judgment, and the ability to handle confidential information appropriately
  • Excellent verbal, written, technical, conceptual, and organizational skills.
  • Must have a mobile phone and open to callouts
  • Preferably able to work in an industrial setting including climbing ladders
  • Preferably able to be certified and willing to wear all types of Personnel Protective Equipment (PPE) for occasional work in hazardous environments
  • Legally drive and work in the United States of America without sponsorship by IAC
  • Based in the greater Kansas City metro area but able to be away on occasion on both land and air travel assignments
