Job description

IFP Motion Solutions Inc. is a growing motion control company based in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, with operations in 13 states. All locations work together to provide a range of services including manufacturing, repair, design engineering, and distribution of components. Our customer base includes industrial manufacturers, mobile integrations, and fluid power OEMs. With a knowledgeable sales team and a large inventory, we have the capability to design, prototype, manufacture, and service a wide range of motion control systems.

Summary

We are seeking a talented and driven Senior Mobile Controls Engineer to join our team. In this role you will work directly with our customers in a customer-facing sales capacity, designing both the hydraulic and electronic control systems for a wide range of mobile equipment environments-tractors, sprayers, track equipment, cranes, off-road vehicles, and more. This is a true dual hardware-and-software role: you will design mobile hydraulic and electronic circuits and program the controllers that run them. You will be part of a multi-disciplined team of mechanical and electrical engineers, drafters, automation specialists, controls engineers, and project coordinators, supported by outside sales. Responsibilities will include:

  • Design mobile hydraulic and electronic circuits and systems in a customer-focused sales capacity.
  • Design and program mobile controller systems utilizing controllers, displays, joysticks, and sensors with CAN, CODESYS, hydraulics, and electronics.
  • Work in a customer-facing sales role supported by an engineering team and outside sales.
  • Work within a multi-disciplined group utilizing mechanical, electrical/electronic, and fluid power components.
  • Draw or supervise the drafting of schematics and physical layouts in AutoCAD or SolidWorks.
  • Work with vendors and suppliers to obtain pricing, and control project costs and budget.
  • Ensure the technicians understand the scope, schematics, design, system requirements, and hours allowed for jobs.
  • Assist as needed with hands-on layout and construction of the unit.
  • Program the controls, and travel on-site to assist with startup and troubleshooting.

Apply sound engineering methods, physics, and materials practices, and ensure each project meets the customer’s expectations.

Job Requirements
  • 5+ years of mobile hydraulics and/or mobile controls programming experience.
  • Experience designing and programming mobile control systems using CAN and CODESYS.
  • Demonstrated ability to design both mobile hydraulic circuits and the electronic controls that operate them.
  • Proven ability to successfully interact and work with customers at multiple levels of responsibility in a manufacturing or production environment, in a customer-facing capacity.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks, has excellent attention to detail, and is willing and able to learn new technologies quickly.
  • Solid verbal and written communication skills, and the ability to work as either a leader or a member within a multi-disciplined team.
Additional Beneficial Skills
  • A 2- or 4-year degree in Engineering from an accredited college/university (strongly preferred).
  • Fluid power design experience.
  • Experience with PLCs, motion controllers, and knowledge of industrial equipment.
  • Programming experience in C / C++ in addition to CODESYS.
  • AutoCAD and/or Inventor experience.
Benefits

Starting wage commensurate with the experience level of the candidate. Enjoy a rewarding work environment and competitive benefits, including 401(k) and Profit Sharing with financial advisor support, medical, dental, vision plans, life and pet insurance, wellness program, and fitness club subsidies.
