Job description

Company Overview:

MP Materials (NYSE: MP) is rebuilding American industrial capability for a new era of autonomy, robotics, and electrification.

We are the only U.S. company with a fully integrated rare earth supply chain—from mining and refining to advanced metal and magnet manufacturing. Our products include both the critical materials used to make permanent magnets and the finished magnets themselves—enabling next-generation technologies in robotics, automation, aerospace, transportation, defense, and energy systems. These materials are the foundation of physical AI—the convergence of computation, movement, and control.

We hire ambitious, mission-driven people who want to tackle complex challenges and shape the future of strategic industries. Our culture is rooted in teamwork, resiliency, and integrity, with a deep commitment to operational excellence and national purpose. MP is rapidly evolving from a materials producer into a leading U.S. manufacturer—and our people are driving that transformation.

Position Overview:

This is a rare opportunity to have a vital role in the initial stages of a greenfield advanced manufacturing facility and helping to define the future of American manufacturing. Ideal candidates will be hands-on with experience in a 24/7 industrial operation. The new facility will contain a broad range of chemical, mechanical, and thermal processes. The metal and alloy casting department consists of equipment such as molten metal electrolysis, vacuum casting, and associated material handling equipment. Following start of production, the Production Operator 1 will be assigned to a specific 12 hour rotating shift. Prior to the start of production, the Production Operator 1 is expected to participate in piloting activities to gain familiarity with the process, with some variation in shift details expected during this period.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Operating rare earth processing equipment in the magnet production departments.
  • Perform daily area and equipment inspections.
  • Prepare materials and setup equipment per recipes and work instructions.
  • Safely operate mobile and material handling equipment.
  • Monitor and operate molten metal processing and vacuum casting equipment.
  • Control and adjust equipment and process parameters as needed to ensure consistent quality and productivity.
  • Document, collect, and report production data.
  • Consistently maintain a clean and organized workplace.
  • Perform duties in a safe manner following all mandatory requirements, regulations, and policies.
  • Wear and maintain company issued personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Actively participate in Kaizen and other continuous improvement activities.
  • Other tasks as assigned.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably in foundry, hot metal working, ceramics, glass, or other hot or molten materials processing.
  • Detail oriented and meticulous about housekeeping.
  • Basic computer skills: data entry into ERP system, Excel, etc.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment managing multiple priorities.
