Job description

Position will cover our mobile crisis for Cherokee/Adair/Sequoyah County


Duties & Responsibilities:

  • As a member of the adult Mobile Response Team, the Adult Crisis Response Specialist (CRS) III is responsible for being on call when on shift to respond to crisis situations as identified by the CREOKS Spring Creek Operations Center and 988. The CRS is to respond to a call within 15 minutes.
  • CRS ensures the team reviews the details of the call with the dispatcher and activates the GPS tracking.
  • CRS ensures that persons in crisis are called in advance if possible to indicate the team is on the way with and estimated time of arrival as well as to inquire concerning additional needs and the need for law enforcement support. Law enforcement should be involved only when the situation indicates the need per CREOKS protocol.
  • Use verbal de-escalation skills, functional assessments, psychiatric rehabilitation skills, crisis planning/safety planning and/or community resources to assist persons in managing and/or gaining control of a crisis either via telephone/within the home or community. Conducts screens as indicated.
  • Stays in contact with the LMHP assigned to support the team and provides all necessary information to the LMHP to determine the need for assessment and best supports to be provided to persons in crisis.
  • Provides advocacy, linkage, and referral services to ensure persons in crisis can be served in the least restrictive environment.
  • Ensures that all persons served and referred to a CREOKS clinic receive follow-up to promote engagement in clinic services.
  • Responsible for documenting services in accordance with ODMHSAS, OHCA, CARF and CREOKS rules and regulations. Documentation, to include billing, is to be completed on a daily basis but no later than the beginning of the next work day.
  • Will serve as backup to the Children's Mobile Response Team when tasked to support that team.
  • Responsible for understanding and following all of the administrative, clinical, and programmatic policies and procedures of the agency.
  • Provides resources for reduction of lethal means, i.e. gun locks, Narcan, etc.
  • Provides transportation when indicated to designated facilities in accordance with CREOKS policies and procedures.
  • All other duties as assigned.

Qualifications Required:

Minimum of Bachelor’s degree in a mental health related field or a Bachelor’s degree and at least 2 years supervised experienced in a treatment setting.

  • Maintain current ODMHSAS case management certification.
  • Basic understanding of social and cultural factors influencing human behavior.
  • Knowledge of various treatment modalities as well as a basic understanding of the impact of physical health on overall wellbeing.
  • Capability to work as part of a team.
  • Core competencies in relation to individuals with co-occurring disorders
  • Complete the CAMS CM2 training.
  • Complete the Critical Time Intervention training.
  • Complete the CPR, First Aid, and Synergy Training.
  • Complete Mental Health First Aid Training.
  • Complete Online Training on the Columbia Suicide Severity Rating.
  • Complete CREOKS Training for Providing Home-Based Services.
  • Complete CREOKS Training on consumer rights, confidentiality, the civil commitment process (43A), EMTALA, and ethics.
  • Experience working in crisis settings is preferred.
  • Oklahoma Driver's License and Auto insurance
