Position Overview

At Autodesk, we empower those who imagine, design, and create a better world for everyone. Our Field Delivery team builds software used by construction workers on active job sites where connectivity is limited, conditions are unpredictable, and reliability is required.

We're looking for a Senior Software Engineer to help build and evolve our field operations platform. You'll work across the stack, building features and solving problems in a React web frontend, React Native iOS and Android apps, and a Python/Django backend backed by PostgreSQL on AWS. The work is real and tangible: the software you build will be used by people in hard hats on active construction sites. You'll collaborate closely with product managers, designers, and QA engineers to ship features that are reliable, performant, and designed for the conditions our users actually work in. This is a role for someone who enjoys working across the full stack, cares about the craft of building software, and wants to see their work make a difference in the field.

Responsibilities

  • Build and maintain features across the full stack, including our React web application, React Native mobile apps (iOS and Android), and Python/Django backend

  • Design and implement REST APIs that are well-documented, well-tested, and built to handle real-world conditions including intermittent connectivity

  • Collaborate with product managers and designers to understand requirements and translate them into well-scoped technical plans

  • Write clean, maintainable code with strong test coverage for the features you build

  • Contribute to architecture and design decisions, especially as new systems and features are being planned

  • Mentor and support other engineers through code reviews, pairing, and knowledge sharing

  • Participate in on-call rotations and take ownership of production issues when they arise

  • Help improve development workflows, tooling, and processes to make the team more effective

  • Contribute to a culture of documentation, quality, and continuous improvement

Minimum Qualifications

  • 5+ years of professional software engineering experience

  • Strong proficiency in Python with experience building backend services and APIs

  • Experience with Django or a similar Python web framework

  • Experience building web applications with React

  • Experience building mobile applications with React Native for iOS and Android

  • Comfortable working with relational databases, particularly PostgreSQL

  • Experience designing and consuming REST APIs

  • Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and modern development workflows

  • You communicate clearly, give and receive feedback well, and care about the quality of what you ship

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience building offline-first or connectivity-resilient mobile applications

  • Experience with Django REST Framework

  • Familiarity with AWS services and cloud-based infrastructure

  • Experience with feature flagging systems and incremental rollout strategies

  • Experience using AI agents to accelerate development workflows

  • Background in construction, workforce management, or field operations software

  • Experience mentoring engineers or leading technical projects

  • Experience with performance optimization for mobile applications on constrained devices or networks
