The Field Applications Engineer is responsible for partnering with Sales and providing Analog related technical expertise throughout the sales cycle. The FAE proactively identifies current products and/or creative solutions to solve existing customer projects and create new functionality/opportunities. In this role, the FAE uses in-depth product knowledge to provide technical expertise to gain credibility and develop relationships with customers.


Primary responsibilities include:

Strategic Customer Engagement

  • Lead technical relationships with major mobile OEMs and ODMs
  • Influence customer platform architecture and drive long-term design-win strategies
  • Serve as the trusted technical advisor for battery management and power system solutions
  • Identify future customer requirements and translate them into product roadmap recommendations

Technical Leadership

  • Provide expert-level support for Battery Charger, Fuel Gauge, Battery Protection, and PMIC products.
  • Lead complex system-level debugging involving hardware, firmware, and battery interactions.
  • Support power architecture optimization for smartphones, tablets, wearables, and other portable devices.
  • Perform root cause analysis for critical field issues.

Cross-functional Collaboration

  • Work closely with Application Engineering, Systems Engineering and Marketing, Quality teams.
  • Drive issue resolution across global organizations under aggressive customer schedules.
  • Mentor junior FAEs and provide technical leadership within the regional applications team.

Business Impact

  • Support annual revenue growth through successful design-in and design-win activities.
  • Manage multiple strategic customer projects simultaneously.
  • Deliver executive-level technical presentations to customer engineering and management teams.

Job requirements:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in Semiconductor FAE, Applications Engineering, or Hardware System Design.
  • Experience supporting top-tier global mobile OEMs.
  • Deep understanding of smartphone power tree architecture.
  • Experience supporting smartphone or portable electronics customers.
  • Strong expertise in: 
    • Lithium-ion battery systems and smartphone battery management architectures (BMS)
    • Fuel Gauge technologies and algorithms, including SOC/SOH estimation, battery profiling, and model-based gauging methods
    • Battery characterization, profiling, calibration, and system validation for portable applications
    • Battery charging, protection, safety, and authentication architectures
    • PMIC and analog power management solutions for smartphones, tablets, and wearables
    • Understanding for MCU-based embedded systems, battery-related system debugging
    • Field application support and root-cause analysis for Fuel Gauge and battery system issues.
    • Strong understanding of smartphone battery industry trends, customer requirements, and next-generation battery technologies 
  • Proven track record of driving strategic design wins.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills in English.

Minimum requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in EE/Comp Eng, or comparable
  • Minimum XX years of experience in Analog disciplines applicable to our customer's end equipment spaces such as sensors, signal conditioning, data acquisition, power design, clocking and timing, or data communications
  • Experience with design, analysis, and debug of related circuits or sub-systems
  • Ability to run simulations, and create/ review schematics and board layout
  • Ability to help customers debug board level issues

  • Ability to collaborate effectively with customers to solve their complete analog system requirements utilizing TI components
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to proactively drive customer activity
  • Ability to work with multiple sales resources and field and factory-based technical resources to develop a winning solution for the customer
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong presentation skills, with ability to effectively relate materials to customers
  • Demonstrated strong analytical and problem solving skills
  • Ability to work in teams and collaborate effectively with people in different functions
  • Ability to take the initiative and drive for results
  • Strong time management skills that enable on-time project delivery
  • Ability to work effectively in an interrupt-driven, fast-paced and rapidly changing environment
  • Demonstrated ability to build strong, influential relationships
  • Ability to efficiently context-switch between multiple concurrent tasks
  • Ability to advocate for customer needs (with an understanding of "why") back into the TI product groups
