This role matters by helping modernize critical service-layer applications while maintaining code quality, system performance, and production stability.
What you'll do:
  • Design, develop, test, and maintain Java-based enterprise applications and middleware services that support issuer platforms and related business functions.
  • Build and enhance business service layer capabilities that store, process, and return business logic to downstream user interfaces and connected applications.
  • Develop RESTful services and application components using Java frameworks such as Spring, Enterprise JavaBeans (EJB), or similar enterprise technologies.
  • Produce secure, resilient, and maintainable code for mission-critical applications with attention to performance, fault tolerance, and compliance requirements.
  • Support production stability by troubleshooting incidents, identifying root causes, implementing fixes, and restoring service with urgency.
  • Perform code reviews, share technical guidance, and support engineering standards that improve code quality and delivery consistency across the team.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams in Agile delivery processes to refine requirements, estimate work, and deliver tested solutions within sprint timelines.
  • Contribute to application build-out, modernization, deployment, and maintenance activities across development and support lifecycles.
  • Responsibilities listed are not intended to be all-inclusive and may be modified as necessary.

Experience you'll need to have:
  • 6+ years of experience designing, developing, and maintaining Java-based enterprise applications in production environments.
  • 6+ years of experience building enterprise solutions using Spring, Enterprise JavaBeans (EJB), or similar Java application frameworks.
  • 6+ years of experience developing RESTful services and integrating service-layer components across distributed systems.
  • 6+ years of experience supporting mission-critical applications with a focus on resiliency, performance, security, and production issue resolution.
  • Experience using Git, Maven, Jenkins, Jira, or similar source control, build automation, continuous integration, and Agile delivery tools.
  • Experience with security implementation using JSON Web Tokens (JWT), OAuth, or similar authentication and authorization approaches.
  • Experience with Oracle, Cassandra, or similar relational database management system (RDBMS) or NoSQL platforms, including data modeling and Java persistence application programming interfaces (APIs) such as Hibernate, Spring Data, or EclipseLink.
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, software engineering, or a related field, or equivalent combination of education, related experience and/or military experience.

Experience that would be great to have:
  • Experience with IBM Liberty, Spring Boot, Docker, or similar containerized application platforms.
  • Experience with test-driven development and test-first engineering practices.
  • Experience with C++ development and Virtual Memory System (VMS) platforms.
  • Experience working in Scrum or other Agile software delivery environments.
