Vanguard is heavily investing in building a world-class mobile experience for our clients, and we are hiring top talent to build our new iOS and Android native apps. The Mobile Center of Excellence is a cross-disciplinary organization spanning Platform, Operations, Architecture, and Enablement teams, responsible for setting the strategic vision and driving consistent execution of mobile initiatives. Its mission is to empower all mobile journey teams to deliver features and capabilities more efficiently by providing scalable architecture, reusable components, a resilient platform, and a best-in-class developer experience and tooling.
You will be joining a fun, collaborative and inclusive cross-functional team where individuals strong on aptitude and attitude have an opportunity to grow their professional careers through working with some of the most advanced technology, development practices.
This hybrid position is based in Charlotte, NC, with in-office work required Tuesday thru Thursday. Relocation assistance can be provided for non-local US candidates. No visa sponsorship will be provided.
What You'll Do
  • Lead React Native adoption by defining integration strategies that align with existing native iOS and Android development practices.
  • Architect, develop, and maintain high-performance, scalable mobile application features.
  • Partner with product managers, designers, backend engineers, and platform teams to deliver intuitive, high-quality mobile experiences.
  • Continuously improve application performance, responsiveness, reliability, and maintainability.
  • Contribute to technical planning and help evolve Vanguard's mobile architecture, tooling, and engineering standards.
  • Mentor junior and mid-level engineers to strengthen React Native, native mobile, and cross-platform engineering capabilities across the team.

Required Skills & Qualifications
  • Minimum of eight years related work experience, with at least three years of development experience.
  • Undergraduate degree or equivalent combination of training and experience. Graduate degree preferred.
  • Extensive experience designing and developing cross-platform mobile applications with React Native.
  • Strong proficiency in bridging native modules, managing platform-specific configurations, and integrating third-party SDKs.
  • Advanced knowledge of TypeScript and experience building maintainable, type-safe codebases.
  • Deep understanding of mobile performance optimization, including startup time, bundle size, memory management, and frame-rate stability.
  • Proven experience implementing high-quality user interfaces, state management patterns, and platform-specific behaviors.
  • Self-directed, ownership-oriented mindset with the ability to drive initiatives from concept through delivery.
  • Strong collaboration skills and effectiveness working across co-located, remote, and hybrid teams.

Preferred Skills & Qualifications
  • Experience working within a large-scale mobile development organization supporting more than 10 feature teams.
  • Experience leading React Native adoption for complex existing native iOS and Android applications using a brownfield integration approach.
  • Working Knowledge of React Native for Web and/or React Strict DOM.
  • Demonstrated ability to contribute to, scale, and maintain shared cross-platform design systems.
  • Familiarity with app distribution platforms, including TestFlight and Google Play Console, as well as automated release pipelines.
  • Understanding of CI/CD processes and mobile delivery automation, including GitHub Actions
  • Proactive problem solver with a strong interest in adopting modern mobile technologies and improving development velocity.
  • Ability to adapt quickly in fast-paced environments with evolving priorities.
