Senior Android Developer

Position Description:
CGI is looking for an Android Mobile Developer to join us. This candidate will serve as a technical expert of a large-scale mobile development project consisting of both on shore and offshore developers. The Mobile Developer will work together with Product Owners, Subject Matter Experts and Technical Managers to build native applications. The Mobile Developer will be responsible for ensuring the team is creating functional, scalable, maintainable code utilizing existing customer patterns.
For this role on this particular client engagement, employer sponsorship of immigration related visa and/or green card status as part of the PERM process will not be available.
This position is located five days a week in our client office in Pittsburgh, PA, Cleveland, OH, Dallas, TX, Birmingham, AL, Pheonix, AZ, or Denver, CO.
Your future duties and responsibilities:
1. Serve as Senior Android Developer to develop and enhance features for mobile apps.
2. Create and review technical designs for real world entities/ relationships/ scenarios and translate them into corresponding objects in mobile software.
3. Develop source code for mobile apps using languages like Java & Kotlin.
4. Effectively use software development IDEs (Integrated Development Environment) like Android Studio, Eclipse and XCode.
5. Review code from peers and respond to any code review comments to ensure code quality, consistency, and within unit test coverage.
6. Ensure that software design patterns like MVP (Model View Presenter), MVVM (Model View View Model) are strictly followed. Objective is to define consistent layers in the software to ensure maintainability and longevity of the code.
7. Effectively use version control systems like GIT to keep the software source code clean and always secured.
8. Participate and contribute to all Agile ceremonies like daily Scrum, Backlog refinement, Sprint planning, Retrospectives, Release planning etc.
9. Execute Spike stories to research, investigate and estimate time and resource requirements for new features/enhancements with Product Owners.
10. Highlight any impediments, dependencies and any potential risks affecting delivery of software features.
11. Conduct trainings and guide junior developers and new members.
12. Understand the requirements, current state architecture of the enterprise and help product owners creating roadmap for the future enhancements.
13. Develop mobile application code in coordination with other team members.
14. Integrate the mobile applications with the centralized authentication application.
15. Knowledge on biometric authentication and device capabilities like Camera, Phone state, Location, Notifications, Permissions management etc.
16. Create Software Architecture Document, High Level and Low Level Design document, Nonfunctional requirements for the project.
17. Work in an Agile environment and adapt to the changing needs and requirements of the business.
18. Always be ready to be hands on to develop or fix issues to deliver on time and with highest quality.
19. Work closely with BA/QA team members to create test plans, and ensure that the issues are properly identified, fixed and tested.
20. Groom the team and develop the application with customer centric ideas and innovation as the core of every activity help the team attain a benchmark within the organization for others to follow and achieve.
21. Ensure that the app code always stays compliant to HIPPA, HIG, Internal architecture, Naming Conventions and Accessibility guidelines.
Required qualifications to be successful in this role:
. 7+ years of experience with mobile development.
2. 5+ Experience in Android development.
3. 4+ Experience in Rest APIs and API Authentication.
4. Good experience working with design patterns like MVVM.
5. Experience working with tools like Android Studio, Gradle, Git, Postman, Firebase and Google services.
6. Working experience in Industry Standard protocols related API Security including OAuth is a must.
7. Strong design and programming skills using layouts & Jetpack Compose.
8. Strong background working with Android tech stack including libraries like Retrofit, GSON, RxJava, Kotlin coroutines etc.
9. Knowledge on databases, rules, and CRUD operations.
10. Strong agile/scrum experience.
11. Strong collaboration and communication skills within distributed project teams.
12. Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

The determination of this range includes various factors not limited to skill set, level, experience, relevant training, and licensure and certifications. To support the ability to reward for merit-based performance, CGI typically does not hire individuals at or near the top of the range for their role. Compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current range for this role in the U.S. is $70,800.00 $156,700.00.
