Position

Overview

Company is seeking an Experienced Manufacturing Engineer to support Flight test in Tukwila, WA. A successful candidate in this role will have passion, creativity, and an insatiable desire for process improvement and efficiency. We need highly responsible professionals committed to upholding the highest standards of safety, quality, and integrity.

The Flight test Manufacturing Engineer is an assembly and installation engineer within the company that supports installation planning by providing design review, manufacturing plan authorship, fabrication sourcing (inside and outside of Boeing), interface with procurement (including tracking), and support during the build and installation.

The primary focus of this position is to lead, manage and support flight test design and planning efforts located in Tukwila, WA. These efforts represent a wide variety of development airplane programs primarily in support of the Company.

Manufacturing Engineers own the build plan and ensure compliance to design configuration and process requirements. They perform Design for Manufacturing and Assembly (DFMA) analysis and develop an integrated build plan consisting of work instructions for assembly fabrication, kitting, tooling, inspection requirements, and other outputs to ensure fabrication meets design, test, and program requirements.

Responsibilities
  • Participates in program Integrated Product Teams (IPTs) to integrate technical solutions across multiple disciplines.
  • Leads and works with Test Project Management, Design Engineering, and Program IE to develop and maintain integrated build plans.
  • Develops, implements and maintains various manufacturing plans, Bill of Materials, work instructions and illustrations to define and document as-built configuration.
  • Coordinates with fabrication personnel and leads coordination with procurement and supplier management personnel.
  • Works across groups to coordinate and track part status and shipping with supplier management and MMO.
  • Develops and documents BT&E ME process and tools for Flight test programs, new job practices, techniques and standards.
  • Prepares build analyses and cost estimate reports.
  • Leads integration of complex suppliers, processes, materials, data and technology to meet manufacturing and delivery requirements.
  • Leads teams performing producibility assessments of design concepts.
  • Manages the program work statement to ensure it meets cost and schedule requirements.
  • Leads development of complex work statements and sequencing of events to support delivery commitments.
  • Helps develop schedule to align with integrated build plan, program needs, and fabrication capabilities.
  • Drafts, updates and reviews processes and procedures to support business requirements.
  • Works under minimal direction.
  • Leads the creation of training material and tutorials for Design and Planning ME team.

12+ months — possible extension and possible FTE opportunity.

Requirements

Looking for experience specifically with authoring work instructions.

Minimum 3 years of experience and up, preferably recently in manufacturing engineering, assembly and installation focus.

Education and experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 5 or more years of related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD, Master+3 years related work experience). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred but not required accreditation standard.
