Job description

Overview
The Manager, Content will assist and support the Director of Content with all functions and efforts put forth to promote and grow the League. The Manager will play a key role in driving and achieving departmental goals and strategies directed at the growth of MLS NEXT Pro with content creation on all media platforms, including, but not limited to, web and social media. This role is based out of the MLS Production facility in Stamford, CT.
Responsibilities
  • Lead MLS NEXT Pro content development efforts, ensuring the best ideas are carefully implemented and follow standard processes across owned and operated channels
  • On matchdays, lead editorial oversight of MLS NEXT Pro social media channels and regularly manage the league website to ensure editorial accuracy
  • Supervise, schedule, and provide feedback and guidance to a team of social and editorial freelancers
  • Lead communication efforts with our clubs to help achieve department goals and provide content assistance or amplification
  • Provide editorial mentorship and exercise strong editorial judgement during the production process for videos, written pieces, and social posts
  • Occasionally provide or help supervise editorial/social on-site match coverage of League initiatives
  • Work closely with the MLS Social team on developing strategy and planning efforts for MLS NEXT Pro social media channels
  • Work closely with MLS Productions to help develop synergies and align on annual company-wide strategies and league Communications team to post and promote league news and initiatives through website and social media
  • Build and nurture relationships with all internal departments - including Operations, Player Personnel, Competition and Commercial teams - to stay informed of their priorities and initiatives and how they affect Content
  • Additional responsibilities as assigned

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree
  • 5+ years of proven experience in any of the following areas: Editorial Communications, Sports Information, Journalism, Digital News Media or Broadcast Media

  • Experience using social media platforms such as Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Snapchat and TikTok and proficiency with CMS platforms
  • Thorough with the ability to multi-task and meet deadlines with minimal direction
  • Proficiency with Adobe Premiere, Photoshop and the rest of the Creative Suite
  • Proficiency in Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook
  • Able to work non-traditional hours, including match nights, evenings, weekends and holidays, as needed; ability to travel if needed.
  • Knowledge of the sport of soccer and the MLS ecosystem
