Job Summary: The Head Coach of an MLS NEXT team is responsible for planning, delivering, and evaluating all aspects of the team's development in line with the club's playing philosophy. The role focuses on individual player development,team performance, and overall alignment with the club's academy structure and long-term goals.
Key Responsibilities:
Training & Match Preparation: Design and implement age-appropriate training sessions following the club's methodology. Develop and manage seasonal training and competition schedules. Prepare and execute match-day plans, including lineups, tactics, and in-game management.
Player Development: Provide consistent, constructive feedback to players and parents. Track player progress using performance data and video analysis. Collaborate with performance, medical, and academic staff to ensure holistic player development.
Scouting & Recruitment: Identify and evaluate talent for inclusion in the MLS NEXT squad. assist with player trials and integration into the academy environment.
Administration & Compliance: Maintain training attendance, match reports, and player evaluations. Ensure compliance with MLS NEXT and U.S. Soccer rules and standards. Attend league meetings and represent the club at MLS NEXT events when required.
Culture & Communication: Model professionalism, leadership, and a growth mindset. Foster a positive team culture focused on accountability, development, and respect. Communicate effectively with players, parents, and club staff.
USSF "A" or "B" License (or international equivalent preferred)
Experience coaching in elite youth environments, preferably MLS NEXT or similar. Strong understanding of player development principles and long-term athlete development models Proven ability to plan and execute structured training sessions. Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills. Ability to work evenings, weekends, and travel as required
