We are seeking a Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT), Medical Technologist (MT), or Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS) to join our Laboratory team.
Laboratory professionals are an essential part of the healthcare team. The testing you perform helps physicians and other clinicians diagnose conditions, guide treatment decisions, and monitor patient health. In this role, you will perform a variety of laboratory tests and procedures, analyze and interpret results, maintain rigorous quality-control standards, and troubleshoot laboratory instrumentation. You'll work as part of a dedicated team committed to accuracy, efficiency, and excellent patient care.
Position Details
  • Position: Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) / Medical Technologist (MT) / Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS)
  • Department: Laboratory
  • Location: Gateway Regional Medical Center, 2100 Madison Ave., Granite City, IL 62040
  • Status: Full-time
  • Schedule: 1st shift
  • Pay Range: $20.41-$38.56 per hour, based on qualifications and experience + 10,000 Sign on Bonus, 5,000 after 90 days and 5,000 after 1 year of employment
Who We're Looking For
Whether you're an experienced laboratory professional or a recent graduate beginning your career, we welcome qualified candidates who are passionate about laboratory science and making a difference in patient care.
Previous laboratory experience is preferred, but new graduates are welcome to apply.
Education Requirements
MLT Candidates
Candidates must meet one of the following educational pathways:
  • Associate degree from an accredited Medical Laboratory Technician program, including coursework in chemistry and biology; or
  • Associate degree of at least 60 semester hours from an accredited institution, including chemistry and biology, plus a 12-month structured curriculum in medical laboratory techniques; or
  • Associate degree or equivalent from an accredited institution, including chemistry and biology, plus graduation from a military medical laboratory training program of at least 12 months.

MT/MLS Candidates
Candidates must meet the applicable educational and training requirements, including:
  • Bachelor's degree in chemical, physical, biological, clinical laboratory science, or medical technology from an accredited institution;
  • Completion of an approved ASCP or equivalent certification pathway, or satisfaction of CLIA requirements for HEW certification; and
  • Completion of one year in an accredited laboratory training program.
Certification Requirements
MLT Candidates
Required certification eligibility includes MLT (ASCP), MLT (AMT), HEW, CLS (NCA), or equivalent, for individuals who completed certification requirements in 2004 or later.
Registry within 12 months of completing school/training is recommended, or equivalent education documentation in accordance with CLIA standards.
Individuals who qualified for certification prior to December 31, 2003, are not required to maintain yearly certification.
MT/MLS Candidates
Required certification eligibility includes MLS (ASCP), MT (AMT), HEW, CLS (NCA), or equivalent, for individuals who completed certification requirements in 2004 or later.
