PRIMARY PURPOSE: Execute various security related functions relating to security screening, access control, credential verification, incident management, and safety for all guests at Progressive Field. Provide all guests at Progressive Field a safe, pleasant, and comfortable environment and create positive memorable experiences through exceptional customer service.
RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES:

  • Maintain a safe and friendly environment for fans, visitors, and staff at Progressive Field.
  • Provide exceptional customer service and proactively seek out opportunities to engage, welcome, direct, answer questions, and resolve complaints from all guests at Progressive Field.
  • Demonstrate a professional demeanor at all times.
  • Provide crowd management and assist with crowd movement as necessary.
  • Respond calmly and professionally in the event of any conflict, medical situation, or other incident, and complete appropriate reports.
  • Verify credentials at restricted access locations around the Ballpark and prohibit access to unauthorized individuals.
  • Report to work by assigned time and properly inform Manager of all potential work conflicts, including but not limited to absences, emergencies, and needed schedule alterations.
  • Have thorough knowledge and understanding of Progressive Field policies and procedures, and the ability to enforce policies and procedures.
  • Have a thorough knowledge and understanding of the Game Day Staff Seasonal Handbook, and ability to abide by all policies and procedures therein.
  • Have thorough knowledge and understanding, and ability to carry-out the Standard Operating Procedures for assigned Fixed Security roles.
  • All other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Fixed Security Personnel monitor various restricted areas. Below describes the potential assignments.
Media Entrance Attendant
  • Perform security screening, credential scanning, and utilize the MLB Guest Pass system to create and distribute daily guest passes to authorized visitors.
    Field Security Guard

  • Perform credential scanning and access control measures to ensure only authorized personnel enter the field and photography pits during designated times.
Clubhouse Security Guard
  • Perform credential scanning and access control to ensure only authorized personnel enter the clubhouses during designated times.
Service Level Security Guard
  • Perform access control to ensure only authorized personnel access the service level during designated times.
VIP Parking Lots Security Guard
  • Verify authorized vehicles and personnel before entering the parking lot and perform security screening and access control as needed.
VIP Suites Security Guard
  • Perform access control to ensure only authorized personnel enter specific VIP suites in the ballpark.
DEPARTMENT REQUIREMENTS:
  • Must be 18 years of age or older.
  • Must be able to fulfill training requirements, including twelve (12) hours of security and anti-terrorism training during the first year of work, and a minimum of eight (8) hours of security and anti-terrorism training each year thereafter.
  • Working knowledge of safety and security functions, customer service philosophies, and conflict de-escalation and resolution principles.
AVAILABILITY REQUIREMENTS:
  • Work long and irregular hours including nights, weekends, and holidays during the baseball season.
  • Available to work 40 out of 81 home games (50%) during the months of April through October.

  • Demonstrates the ability to read, speak, comprehend, and communicate effectively in order to perform job duties and interact with coworkers.
  • Represents the Cleveland Guardians in a positive fashion to all business partners, teammates, and the general public.
  • Ability to build robust, professional relationships with teammates by demonstrating interpersonal skills, approachability, and a collaborative spirit contributing to a positive, respectful work environment.
  • Ability to perform the essential physical requirements of the role as outlined in the job description, which may include extended periods of sitting, standing, lifting, or navigating a multilevel ballpark.
