Northrop Grumman Space Systems - Propulsion Systems, is recruiting for a Manager, Material Planning 2 to lead a portion of our material planning organization that is responsible for planning and supporting material requirements for rocket motor manufacturing operations at our Promontory or Magna, UT locations.

Responsibilities:

  • Manages teams that are responsible for planning material requirements to support rocket motor manufacturing operations
  • Work cohesively with leaders in other disciplines such as operations. This position will act as the primary point of contact for the supply chain organization to production planning, process engineering, and operations. This will require working closely other disciplines to ensure that manufacturing bill of materials, demand, and schedule are appropriately loaded in the MRP system to facilitate the organization's success. This may include expediting material through the procurement process and working close with subcontracts/procurement
  • Develop strategies and processes to optimize replenishment of materials to support operations
  • Manage the purchase requisition process and preparation; this will include ensuring that requisitions contain all the necessary information for subcontracts to properly source material including quality requirements, and budget. In addition, the position will ensure that purchase requisitions are released within the appropriate lead times and coordinate exceptions with operations, production planning, and subcontracts/procurement.
  • Lead root cause and corrective action activities as necessary to rectify and improve processes to ensure material availability for Operations
  • Act as the primary leadership contact for operations leadership to resolve material concerns that arise on the production floor

Basic Requirements / Technical Skills:

  • Bachelor's degree with 8+ years relevant experience
  • Master's degree with 6+ years relevant experience
  • 12+ years relevant experience (in lieu of degree)
  • Experience in material planning, purchasing, operations, demand planning or related field
  • Capability to work in a fast-paced environment and be comfortable being the primary contact for operations to implement resolutions to material concerns
  • Prior involvement planning materials for a manufacturing environment
  • Strong background working with MRP/ERP systems
  • Prior experience leading a team, project, or process; ability to mentor and motivate others to meet complex objectives
  • Strong interpersonal skills with an ability to communicate feedback in a manner that fosters collaboration, trust, and builds positive relationships
  • Ability to work in an integrated team environment and influence change
  • Knowledge and experience working with MRP/ERP systems

Preferred Requirements / Technical Skills:

  • Capability to read technical drawings and documents
  • Prior experience working with materials used in rocket motor manufacturing
  • Experience developing and implementing risk mitigation strategies
  • Strong background and experience in root cause analysis
  • Production Planning experience
  • Prior experience leading a team and establishing metrics to monitor performance
  • Previous experience implementing and/or managing an MRP/ERP system

This position's standard work schedule is a 9/80. The 9/80 schedule allows employees who work a nine-hour day Monday through Thursday to take every other Friday off.

Primary Level Salary Range: $115,000.00 - $172,400.00The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
