Part-Time Driver
Summary/Objective
The primary objective of this position will be to transport residents in accordance with the pre-arranged schedule or at the Life Services Supervisor's direction and to provide departmental support functions in the daily operation and expansion of the Resident Services Program and Peace Village.
Essential Functions

  1. Transport residents in accordance with the pre-arranged schedule for the Circle Inn and the Village.
  2. Maintain communication with the residents as appropriate.
  3. Deliver, make pickups or run assigned errands for Village or Circle Inn as requested.
  4. Schedule driving route as deemed necessary by scheduled appointments.
  5. Ensure and maintain the general operation of the vehicle(s) clean, check oil, sweep floor, clean windows as needed. Check fuel level to ensure that it is adequate; complete daily walk around of vehicle for safety checks, operate lift.
  6. Process records and reports as required. Keep log of mileage, trips and expenses incurred during the day. Contact supervisor in case of mechanical problem or break down. Check sign-up sheets to ensure residents are present in the transportation to and from an event or outing.
  7. Advise residents/passengers of all departure times.
  8. Provide backup escort services for residents from the Dining Room and various activities, as needed.
  9. Ensures outstanding customer service in accordance with the mission of Peace Village.

Supervisory Responsibility
This position has no direct staff supervisor responsibilities.
Work Environment
This position operates primarily in the company provided vehicles of Peace Village. Frequent exposure to the outside elements is expected, as well as occasional office environment responsibilities.
Physical Demands
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to see, talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to sit, stand, walk, use hands, and reach with hands and arms. The employee must frequently lift and/or move objects up to 25 pounds and occasionally life and/or move objects up to 50 pounds.
Position Type and Expected Hours of Work
This is a part time position. May be required to work evenings and weekends are a plus. Occasionally works beyond normal working hours if necessary. Is involved with residents, family, visitors, staff, etc. under all circumstances and conditions. Is subject to various driving conditions, including but not limited to seasonal weather.
Travel
Travel is primarily local during the business day.
Required Education and Experience
  1. High School Diploma.
  2. Previous experience operating a large vehicle.
  3. Valid Illinois Driver's License
  4. CDL license is a bonus.
