Description

SUMMARY

The estimating team is an integral part of Hatteras' overall business. We are passionate about building our team and welcome enthusiastic, dynamic, and professional individuals who share in our commitment to provide world class print solutions for leading brands. The primary role is to develop estimates by determining the most economical method of manufacturing while considering production capacity of the plant.


RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Review and analyze customer supplied specifications
  • Provide guidance and support to Sales and Customer Service clarifying specifications for specific projects 
  • Have working knowledge of all methods available for producing a job and provide quotes based on the most economical method
  • Engineer the best estimate based on the supplied specifications with the necessary time, cost, material, and labor required for production in a timely manner
  • Revise estimates as needed due to specification changes
  • Consult sales, vendors, and department managers to discuss and formulate estimates and provide solutions to our customers
  • Develop knowledge of materials available and recommend cost saving opportunities
  • Assure quality standards are met prior to presenting a quote to Sales or Customer Service
  • Utilize strong computer skills to accurately prepare estimates, manage project data, and maintain documentation 
  • Work within ERP/MIS systems to support estimating, costing, and production planning processes 

Requirements

REQUIRED EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor's or Associate's Degree in related field or equivalent work experience
  • Ability to work well under tight deadlines for projects of various sizes and scopes
  • Positive "can do" customer focused and attitude
  • Ability to communicate effectively with department managers and supervisors
  • Strong computer skills, including proficiency with Microsoft Office and the ability to quickly learn internal systems and software 
  • Experience working with ERP and/or MIS systems in a manufacturing or print environment preferred 
  • Familiarity with all printing equipment and equipment's respective running speeds and most efficient methods for producing any possible job
  • Must be able to compute standard costs when the desired figures are not available; determine the quantity of paper, ink and plates required to complete each job
  • Pace MIS system experience is a plus.
