Job description

Qualifications
  • Bachelorโ€™s degree in Construction Management, or related degree
  • 2 to 4 years of related experience working on commercial construction projects (or equivalent combination of education and experience.)
  • Attention to detail

Responsibilities
  • Supports the Project Manager by taking on day-to-day project coordination, paperwork, and communication to keep the job running smoothly.
  • Manages the flow of information between the field, office, and design team so the Project Manager can stay focused on schedule, budget, and client direction.
  • Keeps current on all construction drawings, revisions, and as-builts, ensuring the field always has the latest information.
  • Tracks and logs submittals, RFIs, change orders, and material deliveries to maintain project momentum and avoid delays.
  • Must review submittals for compliance with contract documents
  • Assist project team with initiating RFI's as well as vetting subcontractor RFI's before submitting
  • Assists PM with writing project scopes of works and sending out subcontractor work orders
  • Works with the Superintendent to resolve field issues quickly and keep production moving.
  • Assists with procurement tracking, vendor coordination, and follow-up to make sure materials and equipment are on site when needed.
  • (onsite PE) Monitors quality and verifies that work aligns with plans, specs, and approved submittals.
  • Helps prepare close-out documents, as-builts, and O&M manuals at the end of the project.
  • Acts as a direct extension of the Project Managerโ€”handling details, following up, and maintaining organization so the PM can focus on high-level tasks and project leadership.
  • Prepare and maintain meeting agendas and minutes including running the OAC meetings (take minutes)
  • Assist Project Manager and Superintendent with subcontract and schedule administration.
  • Coordinates with field and design teams to ensure drawings and as-built records are continuously updated and accurately reflect construction progress.
  • Keeps up-to-date on submittals, RFIs and responses, project changes & work progress, especially the items that could delay project or cause a loss, if installed incorrectly.
  • Maintains the electronic and hard copy project folders as requested by the project manager
  • Quality Assurance/Quality Control: Assists superintendent in verifying that all materials installed coincide with the approved submittals.
  • Ensures that the project site and construction activities are being constantly documented in writing and especially in photos.
  • Files hard or electronic inspection reports, test reports, etc.
  • (Onsite PE) Monitors and enforces, along with project team, safety and OSHA safety standards to maintain a safe working environment for all employees, and site visitors.
  • Assists the project manager in continually monitoring job cost reports by making certain that proper quantities are entered and cost projections are accurate; also accounts for all possible subcontractor cost impacts to the budget.
  • Understands the logic of a schedule and works with the project team, as requested, to ensure that the detailed construction CPM schedule is met.
  • Assists the project team to create, manage, and modify subcontract agreement and/or purchase order.
  • Coordinates with the project manager to track master subcontract agreements and ensures that the office receives signed agreements back.
  • Tracks insurance certifications, licensing and document compliance for all subcontractors and vendors on site
  • Must be able to read and understand construction drawings and specifications
  • The Project Engineer provides technical and administrative support to the project team, ensuring that drawings, RFIs, submittals, and documentation flow efficiently between office and field. This role plays a key part in maintaining accurate records, supporting quality assurance, and assisting with scheduling and coordination.
