CHILDREN’S FAITH FORMATION MINISTRY ASSISTANT

Part Time 18-20 hours per week


PARISH MISSION STATEMENT

THE POSITION

St. Frances Cabrini Parish in Littleton, Colorado is a thriving parish in the southwest Denver metropolitan area, part of the Archdiocese of Denver. The Parish is seeking applicants for Children’s Faith Formation Ministry Assistant, a part-time position. The candidate must be Catholic in good standing with the Church and lead a life in accord with Catholic teachings and beliefs. Must have an apostolic missionary mindset. 

The candidate must be very detail oriented, organized, and professional in appearance and attitude – a creative self-starter able to follow and ask for direction, with excellent interpersonal skills, both verbal and written communication skills. The Candidate must be able to supply strong support for the Children’s Faith Formation Director. Working with a servant’s heart and flexibility is a must. 


GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES

This is a part-time position. The candidate must be Catholic in good standing with the Church, lead a life in accord with Catholic teachings and beliefs, and be knowledgeable about the Catholic Faith. The individual should be very detail-oriented, organized, and professional in both appearance and attitude. Children’s ministry and some catechetical experience is a must. Proficiency is required in Microsoft office Excel, Word, Publisher, Power Point, and Outlook.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES


1. Primary Responsibilities

     a. Welcoming new families, preparing materials.

     b. Communication with volunteer Catechists, families, and children.

     c. Maintain records and supplies.

2. Organizational Relationships:  

     a. Reports to the Director for Children’s Faith Formation

3. Work Hours: 

     a. 18-20 hours per week, primarily Mondays through Thursdays – days and some evenings

     b. Some weekend hours for special events (such as retreats and Sacramental Masses, etc.).  


BACKGROUND REQUIREMENTS

  1. Mature, fully initiated practicing Catholic and committed to ongoing personal and spiritual formation in the Catholic Faith.    
  2. Demonstrated passion for the Catholic Church and Her mission in the world.
  3. Has an ability to effectively communicate the Faith with accuracy, joy, and a welcoming presence.
  4. Has an ability to manage sensitive situations with discretion and confidentiality. 
  5. Has a High school diploma or equivalent. 
  6. Must complete a confidential Background Check before hiring and Safe Environment Training upon hiring.

SPECIFIC DUTIES:


1. Administrative:

     a. Answers phone calls and email as needed.

     b. Follow up with parents and students as necessary.

     c. Creates lesson plans; assembles and prepares materials for Religious Education programs and events.

     d. Make photocopies and scans as needed, dividing materials by class. 

     e. Responsible for communication to program participants including reminders and announcements.

     f. Maintains accurate email lists.

     g. Catechist training and compliance with Safe Environment.

     h. May need to monitor classrooms during class times. 

     i. Substitute for classes as needed.

     j. Able to run a class and or a parent group as needed.

    k. Collaborates and communicates with Volunteer Catechists.

2.  Assists Director with formation for catechists. 

     a. Attends quarterly meetings with catechists.

     b. Creates and sends out advertising for events. 

     c. Assist Director in envisioning and “dreaming” expansion and new events.


PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:


1. Able to lift up to 25 pounds. 

2. Able to walk up and down stairs easily.
