Your work environment at EXP
In this role, you will be a part of the Mining team, based in any of our US offices.
What a day at EXP has in store for you
  • Preparing proposals for projects for services for engineering projects that include cost estimates and timelines;
  • Ability to work and communicate positively within a team.
  • Understanding of project mission, including Client requirements.
  • Ability to read, understand, and comment on manufacturer equipment drawings and specifications.
  • Checking of 3D models.
  • Checking of 3D models and drawings developed by others.
  • Troubleshoot, analyze, identify, evaluate, propose engineering solutions.
  • Establish continuous improvement plans where efficiency, quality, safety, or service can be improved.
  • Responsible for managing budgets, schedule and deliverables related to the layout.
  • Provide mentorship and supervision to the design team.
  • Provide support to our systems and tools including the Bentley Suite of software (OpenPlant Modeler, OpenPlant P&ID, etc.).
  • Provide regular feedback to the Overall Mechanical Engineering Lead on progress with the preparation of deliverables.
  • Ability to engage and coordinate the design with client representatives.
  • Become familiar with EXP standards.

What your experience looks like
  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering.
  • Registration as a Professional Engineer (PE) is required.
  • 10+ years relevant experience with engineering/design deliverables in an industrial setting. Experience in consulting engineering is preferred.
  • Participate and assist in proposal preparations.
  • Design experience, preferably in the consulting industry, (preference will be given to those candidates with experience in Mineral Mining projects).
  • Experience with the design registration of power piping systems with the safety authority.
  • Experience with Section VIII, Div 1 pressure vessel design modifications and pressure vessel alterations with the safety authority.
  • Experience with ASME B31.3 and B31.1 piping codes, National Board, API 650, ASME Section VIII Div 1, NFPA codes, CSA Z662 and CSA Z276 is desired
  • Knowledge of mining and bulk material handling (crushing, grinding, screening, conveying, flotation and tailings).
  • Knowledge of piping design and process equipment (PE piping, slurry hydraulics, tanks, pumps, and pipe stress).
  • Organized, self-motivated, pro-active, detail-oriented, and have good communication skills.
  • Sound understanding of design, engineering codes and technical standards.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project, etc.) products.
  • AutoCAD and/or MicroStation experience required.
  • Extensive knowledge in engineering standards, codes and guidelines and engineering systems coordination.
  • Knowledge of mining-related processes a definite asset.
  • Ability to work and communicate positively within a team.
  • Ability to function with minimal supervision.
  • Experience with Greenfield and Brownfield interfaces, including constructability experience.
  • Must be a team player and can work collaboratively with others.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and critical-thinking.
  • Willing and able to travel for short durations to various global project offices or site is considered an asset.

The salary range for this role is $110,000 to $150,000. Actual compensation will be determined based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to the candidate's skill set, experience, certifications, and geographic location. Compensation may vary by location due to differences in the cost of labor.
