Job description

Mining Equipment Electrical Engineer / Project Estimator

Metalcraft Mining Equipment Rebuilders, Inc. โ€“ Gilboa, WV

Position Overview

We are seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Electrical Engineer/Project Estimator with strong technical knowledge of underground mining equipment or an in-depth understanding of hydraulic, electric, and mechanical systems. The ideal candidate will possess excellent business writing skills, a strong attention to detail, and a drive to see projects through to completion. This position requires both strong technical capability and practical cost-analysis skills.

Key Responsibilities Electrical Engineering
  • Design, modify, and troubleshoot electrical systems on mining equipment
  • Read and interpret electrical schematics, PLC circuits, and wiring diagrams
  • Diagnose electrical failures and recommend corrective solutions
  • Ensure compliance with MSHA and state electrical standards
  • Work closely with hydraulic systems and integrated control components
  • Provide handsโ€‘on technical support during rebuild and testing phases
Project Estimating
  • Evaluate mining equipment and determine rebuild scope
  • Develop detailed labor and material cost estimates
  • Review project specifications and customer requirements
  • Coordinate with production, purchasing, and sales teams
  • Prepare professional quotes and project proposals
  • Monitor project costs and assist with budget tracking
Qualifications
  • Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering preferred
  • Mining or heavy mobile equipment experience strongly preferred
  • Extensive electrical knowledge in underground mining equipment will be considered in lieu of degree
  • Practical, handsโ€‘on troubleshooting experience required
  • Knowledge of hydraulic systems and integrated electrical controls
  • Strong analytical and costโ€‘estimating skills
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills
