Reporting to the Mine Geology Superintendent, the Mine Geology Coordinator will be responsible for planning, organizing, and providing technical supervision of underground production geology work, as well as geological control and mineral definition drilling, in order to achieve the Company's objectives. He or she will also assist the Mine Geology Superintendent with his or her duties and responsibilities.  Based at the Windfall site in the Northern Quebec region, the coordinator will work on a schedule of 15 days on, followed by 13 days off, or an 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. schedule, depending on the company's needs. Transportation, lodging, and meals are provided.  


Tasks and responsibilities                                        

Coordinate and supervise mining geology work; 

Supervise and assist the drilling geology team and the production team with tasks such as drilling planning, drilling operations, mapping, sampling, and grade reconciliation; 

Participate in the planning and approval of mineralized development and mine site development; 

Integrate geological information collected through drilling and underground operations; 

Conduct and   supervise production grade monitoring and ensure the quality of the data collected; 

Participate in the training and coaching of team members by contributing technical expertise; 

Participate in daily, weekly, and monthly meetings with operations and the geology/engineering department; 

Assist in the development of definition and exploration drilling programs and budgets, including drilling planning, priority setting, and target achievement; 

Prepare weekly and biweekly reports for management regarding the progress of work and the follow-up on reconciliations; 

Ensure that fieldwork is conducted in accordance with operational guidelines and government regulations;

Comply at all times with occupational health and safety and environmental policies and rules, and ensure that staff comply with these rules; 

Perform any other duties related to the position of mining geology coordinator that are relevant to the project's success.


Qualifications

Hold a university degree in geology or geological engineering;  

Be a member of the Ordre des geologues du Quebec (OGQ) or the Ordre des Ingenieurs du Quebec (OIQ);  

Have 8 to 10 years of experience in underground mining, including mapping, production monitoring, and reconciliation; 

Have supervisory experience (an asset); 

Excellent command of spoken and written French and English  (will be required to communicate with English-speaking staff). 

Hold a valid Class 5 driver's license; 

Hold an explosives permit;  

Have successfully completed mining modules 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, and 7.


Technical skills

In-depth knowledge of the operational principles and processes related to production geology in underground mining; 

Excellent knowledge of various geological and metallogenic models; 

Proficiency with Microsoft Office and specialized software such as Datamine, Leapfrog; 

Proficiency with software Deswick (a plus); 

Good knowledge of the laws and regulations applicable to mineral exploration in Quebec.
