With an industry-leading pipeline of projects, strong financial positioning, and talented employees, we look forward to our bright future!Job Description:General Objectives:Reporting to the General Supervisor, the Operations Supervisor typically works a rotating 5-4 schedule. The Operations Supervisor provides guidance and leadership for all mining-related activities during their regularly scheduled shift. Responsible for the direct supervision of up to 52 equipment operators. Successful candidate will utilize available resources to set operating priorities in order to achieve daily goals.Key Areas of Responsibilities & Duties:The key responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to the following:Create and maintain a strong safety culture. Facilitate team involvement in safety programs.Promote and consistently enforce safety standards to deliver safe production.Conduct safety meetings, and safety inspections. Demonstrate a strong personal commitment to safety and the environment.Seek opportunities to continuously improve both the crew and mining operation.Support and implement department and site Operational Excellence initiatives.Provide coaching and leadership to the operational crew.Work closely with other departments to deliver short-range mine planClearly communicate the daily objectives and priorities to mine operatorsMonitor activities of mine operations to ensure compliance with the mine planIdentify training needs and schedule proper training to ensure that safety and production goals are metConduct in incident investigations in a thorough and timely mannerComplete performance evaluations and recommend promotions, as appropriateAdminister and communicate company policies and operating procedures to promote an effective teamWork closely with all mine operations personnel to develop cost-efficient mining practicesMaintain accurate production records and employee training filesResponsible and accountable for the performance, and compliance of mine site safety and environmental policies and procedures for all personnel and vendorsParticipate in Planned General InspectionsProvide safety and environmental leadership by always setting a good exampleThis role requires frequent interaction with department employees, supervision, management and vendors on a regular basis to provide assistance, service and supportAbility to build trust and develop great working relationships with site personnel and regulatory agenciesAbility to provide strong leadership and act as an effective change agentAbility to interaction with all departments or groups as needed, for problem resolutionRequired Skills:Demonstrated leadership and teambuilding skills.Ability to communicate effectively using all standard forms of business communication.Excellent organizational and problem solving skills.Ability to plan and direct work of others.Instructs in proper use of equipment.Must be able to multi-task and change priorities quicklyMust be able to handle an emergency in an effective mannerRequired Experience:A strong safety background is required.Proven safety and environmental performance.Minimum of 7 years of experience in mine operations in an open pit mine setting.Prior supervisory or lead person experience required.Valid Driver License.SSR Mining Inc. is an equal opportunity employer.
